Does Vaal Pact makes sense atm?

I am playing an Shadow on Reave following these 2 Guides


My Passive Skill Tree


My Offence Stats (REAVE):


I have 5500 ES. No Ammo or Evasion Rating.
ATM I am playing without Vaal Pact. Not sure if it makes sense.

I have made some calculations. But not really sure if they are correct...



I am on CI and Ghost Reave so I am LEECHING ENERGY SHIELD NOT LIFE!!!

Does this al makes sense to you?

Your calculations are off.

The number of attacks per seconds is already counted in your dps.

So your vaal pact leech will be 552hp/s.
You leech without vaal pact is 1271hp/s, because you forgot to multiply by 1.13 for life leech rate.

However, to be more precise your vaal pact leech is 552hp/s per target.
So for packs, it can get better really fast.

So if you struggle vs packs of mobs get vaal pact. If you struggle vs bosses, don't.

I think if i were you i'd wait a bit. No doubt you will be doing more than 8k in a little while.

The leech rate bonus from quality on the gem doesn't increase the amount of life leeched but the speed and therefore the leech cap. 13% increased leech rate will effectively increase the cap from 20% to 22.6%. +50% leech rate from items with the Vorici mod would increase the cap to 30% and so on.
As mentioned, Vaal Pact will help you a lot against large groups of mobs since you don't loose any leech due to the cap but will ultimately give you less leech against 1-2 mobs.

The only builds where you could get considerably better single target leech with Vaal Pact are usually high DPS dual claw builds since they can get up to 18% more leech than any other weapons.

There isn't a cap. The leech rate is just the rate at which you get your leeched resource. Default for life is 20%. With a 13% quality Life Leech gem it's (20 * 1.13) = 22.6% life per second.

Since your ES is 5552, that means whatever leech you have gets returned at 1254.75 ES per second. If you only hit for 1 leech, it will be returned at the same rate as if you hit for 10,000 leech. You'd get all of your 1 leech in 1/1254th of a second, whereas it would take almost 2 seconds to recover the 10,000 leech.

Back to your numbers: From the life leech gem, you'd leech .082 * 8621.7 = 707 ES per second. Your leech rate gives you your leech at a rate of 1255 ES per second, so you'd have that 707 ES recovered in a little over half a second. Vaal Pact would give it to you instantly, but you'd only get 282.8 back per second.

The blood rage leech is 6% but only works with physical damage. Since it looks like most of your damage is physical, I'll ignore the elemental stuff and just say you get that 6% on all your damage. At 8621.7 dps, 14.2% leech gives you 1224 leech per second. Since that's almost at your leech rate, you can expect to get that back over a span of slightly less than 1 second. With Vaal Pact, you'd get it instantly, but only get 489.6 ES per second back (since we're looking at dps, the leech has to be looked at per second as well).

I think you're better off without Vaal Pact.

Mark1030 I think neglecting the fact that on multiple mobs the leech would be much greater with Vp is shortsighted due to the nature of POE, him using Reave and also factoring reflect.
