Not really I forgot about godfris like a 8C helm and drops a lot. That can bump purities to 23.

So basically you can be immune to all damage self found until you run into atziri/abyss who has big penetration.

OFC you have to use flasks and IC intelligently.

Or level 21 purities (via vaal orb) in an Alpha's Howl.

Sounds to me like you are just a bad player.

If u dont even know what killed you, that just means you did not investigate = bad player.

And it sounds to me like your going full retard on defensive.
There is no point in maxing defense if you cannot kill any non boss enemy in 5 seconds.
Killing that shock nova dude faster would have probably saved you.

and additionally there are some thing to figure out,
1. you need more than 1 defense mechanism, having a high life or ES pool is NOT a defense mechanism, its simply a requierement.
Defense mechanism are, dodge, evansion, block, spell block, armour, resist and curses in some way.

2. you should run Enfeeble and use it on any enemy, if your build does no rely on curses.

3. Always run flask with the following effects:
Remove curses, Remove bleeding, remove shock and you could also run remove frozen.
And a granite flask, esspecially if you play melee.

With these things in mind is pretty difficult to die if you are no noob.

What, there are new ones? I only know the old reasons, or excuses as you call them.

I did a favour to myself and played Torment league this time around, becuase
a) i don't have many builds i want to try ( or lack some unique build enabling item )
b) i don't want to remake the build i was having fun with every time i die.

Becuase i was fed up with desync i went with totems and since i never tried dual totems i went with that. My choice was flame totem since using a spell totem uses a socket and a 4L is enough for flame totem ( flame totem+lmp/gmp+faster casting+fire pen ).

I'm self found player and only party up for masters every now and then and i have to say gear was easy to get. Or to be more precise i didn't need gear. Before i got to dual totem i used lightning tendril+added lightning in a +1 lightning weapon ( you need to sell a magic sceptre/wand+resist ring for certain element+alteration orb ). I ran most of merciles with resist at 30% or lower my HP was barely 2.5k but my damage was sufficient. Besides using a flame totem i had no idea what skills to use other than smoke mine for opening strong boxes ( i always use that ).

I also felt strong enough so i went to do merci dominus without bleed removal flask at first. I killed him, i did die 2-3 times because of lack of bleed removal flask but damn i have to say i felt good about it. Especially once i saw i killed the level difference ( me at lvl 62 and portal to dom lvl 67 ).

Total number of major desyncs i got with this character is 3 which is not something i can say about my cyclone character or just about any other melee character i have.

To have the best of both worlds, solo self found and party i chose to use items with item rarity so even i could get some decent finds without the need for group play.

Most effective way to survive is cast when damage taken - enduring cry- immoral call- increased duration combo. It has saved me innumerous amount of times.
