Unarmed Attack Animation/Speed; Facebreaking Dilemma

I've recently found a nice 975% Increased Melee Damage Facebreaker and decided to roll a Marauder with it.

It was incredibly fun over-all. One shotting blue/rare mobs is hilarious, Dominating Blow is just absurd a times and while the build isn't exactly optimal - or dare I say it - even average for Merciless play I still enjoyed spending 2 odd days leveling it.

Here's some gripe and feedback though.



It's slow. And not because of the damage or anything like that. It's weak because you need to walk up to a mob slowly slug them down one by one. Infernal Blow changes from 6-7 hits to 5 hits, not exactly much of an improvement. It can get tedious. I'd love a little more skill to work with here. And let's be honest - why would you be able to use a skill with Claw but not with your fists?


Unarmed Attack Speed - why do I attack slow unarmed than I do with weapons? That just doesn't make sense to me; it feels awkward and clunky. Yes I know there is Frenzy and I do use Frenzy - so I suppose increasing the base attack speed could make it overpowered, but still, it's really detracts from the game.


Shields - currently there no penalty for using shields with Facebreaker - and in an optimal build you'd want to have one, but goddamn it just looks awkward. My character is literally uppercutting everything like Ken from Streetfighter. Cool at first, novelty wears off quickly. To tie in with previous point - I'd love to have some sort of an advantage to fighting completely unarmed.

Removing shield from facebreaker would be an excellent idea, but only after they nerf soultaker.

This would be a really awesome addition to facebreaker build diversity. I suggest:

If you have two free hands, it counts as dual-wielding for unarmed.

1: I don't find it slow. Chuck on a multistrike, IB, melee splash, and you have really awesome explosions. Add in Blood Rage and it gets better.

2: The attack speed starts slow, sure, but you get aspd easily enough, and with my stack of frenzy charges I attack super quick with my multistrike. Also the few aspd nodes tend to be pretty damn good, and finally I am quite used to using the 2hers which have much slower aspd. So unarmed seems fine to me, though I suppose if you are used to dual rapier aspd builds it would be slower, but thats fine to me

3: You don't have to wear a shield. I wear a quiver. It suits my rangers looks. AND punching looks cooler cause with multistrike I sorta do a 1-2 combo, using both my fists. Looks awesome. Complain if you want but I love teh way my unarmed FB looks, but then I picked ranger simply because I wanted to play as a ranger punching things.

I disagree with all your complaints, and indeed find it the other way around
