Second attempt at shadow archer - shock build.

I'm trying to flesh out a shadow archer. Originally, I really wanted to do iceshot, but ls just seems superior in every way.

Here's what I have put together.

Any suggestions, please? I don't want to make another char that can't hack it in merciless like I did my 'giant health pool marauder'

Bump: Sitting with 14 points to spend, don't want to screw up yet another character, so hoping for some direction.

Here is what I would do:
In softcore, I would pick up the crit nodes you are right next to for tons more damage and shock stacking
In hardcore, I would try to get as much more defensive nodes as possible while still managing enough damage to kill the mobs effectively.
Also, having more mana for auras is not bad, and inner force for 4 extra points is very good to help with that.
That's just what I would do, not sure if it was help.

Yeah, since I'm going for resolute technician, I don't think I'd want to buy any crit chance passives at all.

Anyone else got some suggestions that is working with a lightning short archer in merciless?

I'm a little stuck at where to go from there too... I see over on the upper right I would definitely take the one Int Node and Unnatural Calm, which is just 2 points for a fairly significant survivability bonus.

My major concern is that I feel this build is *severely* going to lack in damage dealing capability in turn for a mass build of survivability that is generally nearly worthless in merciless anyways. I'm not playing hardcore, so I don't mind sacrificing a little bit of durability for some output.

But I'm just so lost, and my time constraints in the real world don't allow me to play this game 5-6 hours a day. I simply don't have the time to get back to merciless with another character and realize that I'm not viable. I could care less how cookie cutter the build is as long as it involves mah lightning shot or ice shot and a shadow.

It's great so far. I'm close to the end of A3 on Norm. It's hard to gauge it's effectiveness in Merciless difficulty now but it's killer to compared to anything else I've tried to this point. There are videos of the build in Merciless and some decent information on the link.

Your build seems to lack focus. You have a full wheel of Armor and Energy Shield, then on the other end you have a full wheel of Evasion and Energy shield. Judging by how much you are invested in intelligence(too much in my opinion) you should be going for ES primarily and evasion due to your dex investment, no armor. Your gear should be all ES+Evasion.

This would drive me crazy: You don't have any crit and you don't have Resolute Technique to compensate for it until level 60-80.

I keep asking myself this too: Wouldn't high crit be more damage output with a lightning archer than never missing? Critting with all that elemental damage and shock is insane.

(I'm no expert on archers, just throwing my 2 cents out there. If I get time later today I'll post a link how I'd build a lightning archer)

I think I had a similar problem to yours with my Marauder, I listened to too many people saying go heavy on health etc. Health is kind of secondary, even in Cruel. You'll never have enough to face-tank anything significant. The key seems to be the opposite: Kill before it turns into your health pool vs theirs. If I made a Mara again it would be dual axe or sword, no shield, no crit, just straight +dmg and +elem dmg.
