POE - One Year Later
I'm not going to lie, I had to look up the Finbarr Saunders reference :)
As for the other part, I actually was stating that the Dominus reference significantly underestimated the actual toll on time to get a shavs in terms of trading. Perhaps a flagrant use of hyperbole just to amplify your point that I overlooked and misread. Instant gratification to me is little to no input for a desired output. An example would be the RMAH in D3, which only requires you to have a CC. Or the current D3:ROS, which only requires you to have a pulse and an internet connection. Something that takes weeks or months to grind for, and even then is only a small fragment of your equipment does not qualify for instant gratification for me. I have no doubt that there are some no-lifers that can hit L100 in a week. I also have no doubt that someone had a shavs on day 2. I have 1000's of hours playing at this point and I have not had a shavs drop and I think that's great! If/when it happens, I'll be ecstatic. On the other hand, I've had 3 Soul Takers, Crown of Eyes, and a handful of other extreme rares which helped. A game that includes trading enables desert like drops because crowd sourcing makes it at least available...at a premium, and I like that too. Didn't get it through drops? Well you kind of did, just had to trade other drops for it. It is true that trading changes the function, but still at the base level is just a function of time either way. To sum it up, no I don't view the current model as instant gratification. If it was, the GD would look like D3 and not filled with 'Drops Suck' threads by the 'Everyone Gets a Trophy' crowd. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Dec 29, 2014, 9:17:54 PM
