There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile.

Hi all, I started getting this error after the 1st sub update after ver 1.3.0 either 1.3.0b or 1.3.0c Do not know which 1, as the updates were done while I was at work, so don't know if my Steam, updated straight to ver 1.3.0c or 1st b. Then i thought I would wait for hopefully a soon to be new patch, and as of today yes, ver 1.3.0d which auto updated, but yet, same problem. I then decided, almost 3 hours ago to the minute from this post time, to delete my local content and re download PoE, and to my dismay. Same problem...

Is there any work around or way that I can fix this. even with the following in the log file " Marking steam content as corrupt in order to force a recheck of the patch " after re launching PoE is does the validation check and still same problem. Just FYI I log into Europe servers.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Hi there,

This error message and your description could mean one of 2 things; your patching is not complete and the Steam client is stuck in a loop or your game is fully updated but the Steam launcher doesn't realize this.

Try adding the --nopatch command to the steam shortcut. If this loads the game for you then your patching is complete, remember that with this command your game will not auto update.

If that doesn't work then there could be a number of reasons for the error, try this one first and let us know how you got on.

Hi MikeP_GGG,

I tried exactly what you said, with the --nopatch as a load option on the shortcut, presuming it is with the double -- dash's even so i tried it with a single 1 to, and yet still same error. "Patch needed"

Thank you for your reply and your quick response, much appreciated! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news though, unless this is good news, and there is another way to force the patching process? Its weird though, as both times, my steam client showed updates downloaded and installed, and were ready to play, meaning for 1.3.0c and 1.3.0d so have no clue as to why is says otherwise with the option u gave me to try.

Any Other idea's?

Thanks in advance! :)

Thanks for giving that a try anyway. Make sure you remove it so you can auto update as required.

Possible causes for your patch not completing could be; Steam needs be ran as administrator, anti-virus or firewall is blocking some of the dataflow, potentially your isp has a cached version of the patch that is corrupt (this will be difficult to resolve) or it could be that the hotfix for 1.3.0e is getting in the way somehow.

Try as many of those as you can. maybe give it a couple of hours and see if things work better when 1.3.0e is rolled out.

No problem Mike, will try anything at this point, the only thing to do if I cannot get it working again is delete it and never look back xD

Ok tried what you suggested, Ran steam as Administrator, even though my login is setup as Admin, my UAC is off on my Win 7. It ran the update 1.3.0e while running as admin, and it went through without issues, and was monitoring my AV while it was running, nothing was blocked or ignored, and also put exceptions on my AV for PoE as well as steam, as allowed Apps, before the patch was updating, yet I fire up PoE and same error.

The possibility of the ISP caching a corrupt patch is there, but after 1.3.0e updated, could that still be a possibility? If so then I will choose a different server to download form under my steam settings, but I am hesitant to think that 3 patches have been corrupt in a row, when before I have not had a single issue up until the 1st sub patch after the big 1.3.0, as I have already logged in after that update, and applied my points on the ability map, without an issue, it was there after that the issue began.

I have 2 machines at home and home sharing is on, the only problem is though, that I cannot test my other PC as it does not have a sound card in, an gives error due to that when it starts up, so cannot even test if that PoE is fine or not..

Other than that I am now at your beck and call for any other idea's.

Thanks again for your assistance so far!! :)
Well now this I cannot Explain.

I decided to put the --nopatch back on the startup section, started up PoE and kept getting exception errors and then exe eventually crashed with a C ++ runtime error. So ran it, went in again, and change GFx settings around a bit, as the exception errors mention something as follows " Unable to MapViewOfFile in MapChunk. Error Code: 8 Offset: 5972754432 Size: 15189476 " then 2 more similar Exception errors then the Run time error of the exe, so after changing GFx ran PoE again, this still with the --nopatch behind, and decided let me lo gin to the America server instead, and bobs your Uncle, it went to the character screen, Tried Australia after that and indeed same result, then eventually back to Europe, and no I get to the Character screen, without any further updates, or validation checks, and I think my steam stated up again, just before all this happened, on its own, so not even running as Administrator.

Now I am stumped...

What solved the issue... Is it just by luck or messing about with the config that made it come right.. I am going to set my GFx back to the way it was, as I use Nvidia Geforce Experience to set my settings to optimal, thats what it was before I changed them, and test again, and let me see..

OMW if I do that, ten I get the error of the subject line of this post " Patch needed " This is with selecting from within the Geforce Experience panel, the optimal setings, after changing some settings, mainly shadow detail from high to low and antialiasing from high to medium and applying tha settings it does not give the " patch needed " error.

Then i removed the --nopatch from Launch options with still the GFx unchanged as mentioned above and no " Patch needed " error! Totally unexplained as before these patches I did not have a problem with using the optimal settings, and I have a pretty decent GFx card Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 TI GDDR5 with a Intel i5-4690K 3.50 GHz Quadcore Processor and a 128GB SSD where OS (32 Bit Win 7) and Games are installed on, so not an entry level RIG, yet though this error.

If this helps in trying to narrow down what the issue can be, and if there is anyone else having the same issue. Then u are welcome to try any of these options.

Thanks for your assistance though anyway Mike, I think without your suggestions, I do not think I would have easily gotten to this conclusion, or at least maybe not nearly this fast should I say, if at all! :) so really value the info to get my IT Brain going in this Festive time... xD

Much Appreciated!!
