Suggestions for Mouse Desk/Surface for Laptop?
|
Ever since I got my laptop 4 years ago I have been using a Logitech N315 lap desk with some sort of cooling pad for my gaming to allow for mouse use when not at a desk or table. Not having access to a large flat surface happens a lot when I am visiting back home during break or when I have to play on my girlfriend's bed. The extendable mouse pad has been so helpful when in these locations. However, the pad is starting to fall apart from use and I wanted to get another. I remember buying this one from target for $15 so I thought I could just go get another. I search it up online. Cheapest price I have found for the standard grey or black pads has become between $40-60 and skyrockets to $106 for some damn reason. The only one I could find for $20 has an odd floral design on the pad that is too distracting and does not look good.
There is no reasonable reason to pay $50 bucks for this item despite its usefulness. So I am trying to find ideas or actual products to replace the lap desk for roughly the same price as my original. I have not had a cooling pad for a while now but I will be getting a new one that allows lap use so an object for the mouse alone could be enough. I am having difficulty googling anything that comes up with tangible results though besides the above mentioned desk. Any help would be appreciated. tl;dr: laptop lap is breaking, replacements are expensive and don't know alternatives. Please help. "It's all clearer now

The cutting board was something I was already contemplating. Not as a literal cutting board but I was going to go to get a flat board and cut it down to a proper size. I would have some work ahead of me in making it safe for it to lay on the couch and such but oh well. On a similar note, I was thinking about books but it is hard to find a thin hard cover that is the proper size for the problem for me.

Cookbooks are usually a decent size, and offer the perfect space for a piece of A4 paper.
If you grab a chopping board ($10 at target or something), plus the silicon sheet, you can put the cookie cooling tray on the silicon sheet and it won't slide around. The perforated cooling tray ensures even airflow under the laptop, which obviates the need for a cooling pad. The really cool thing? You can spray paint or airbrush all this stuff into awesome colours or graphics. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
