Wand Elemental Damage - ...does this count for spells too?

Hiya everybody,

I am currently trying to build my witch around CRIT thunder spells and nice damage output...even though she will be a glass-cannon.

In the passive-skill tree there are points for

"Wand Elemental Damage
8% increased Elemental Damage with wands"

Is this only for physical hits, or are spells that I fire affected too?
Are they only affected if the spell-gem is placed INSIDE the wand, or will gems that are inside another equip part also get this bonus?

There are several things in the skill-tree I am confused with...I am mostly uncertain if spells are affected by some points or not :(

Thx in advance
Spells do not deal damage 'with Wands'. You might be holding a Wand, but the game ignores your weapon type when it comes to casting Spells.

Some related information:
-Attacks base their damage on your current weapon, and benefit from with-Weapon bonuses.
-Spells are not Attacks.
-If a passive does not state Attack nor Spell (example: "15% Increased Critical Strike Chance"), it will apply to both.
-Skills benefit from all applicable bonuses on gear, regardless of Gem location, except +x to Socketed Gem levels (only applies to gems socketed in that item).
