Patcher download speed close to zero

I live in Singapore and I am using a wired broadband at home. I delete and reinstall my POE often. I used to have a patch speed of almost 6MB per second but it is down to less than 1 KB per second now. May I know what happened? Have the servers in Singapore been shut down? I am not running the Garena POE server, I am running the international server from this website by the way.

Why would you delete and reinstall poe often? That makes no sense. There is no reason to go through that and waste all that time, bandwidth, and GGG's money on it.
As for the download being slow, it's likely an issue with the server in the CDN you are connecting to. Close and try it again, or do it later. |

Well the first question is not of concern to the problem, so I shall not answer. As for your suggested solution, nope I have tried it several times. It is still 0.1 KB per second unless 6MB per second it used to be.

It is of concern as it's grossly wasteful to cost GGG that much money for absolutely no reason. Nothing is gained by reinstalling poe often. If you're worried about content file fragmentation, there are tools to fix that. It actually costs a lot of money to serve that much content, and I hate to see the resources of an indie company like GGG just wasted like that.

How the hell does reinstalling POE cost GGG money? Isn't it like all the data are installed in a mega server and everyone just downloads freely? I do not know much about IT business, please enlighten.

It's not free, why do you think many patchers come with a torrent client that force you to share?....that right, cause it cost the publisher a fair amount and they can offload the costs by file sharing.
But as drak has said, there is no reason to constantly uninstal/reinstal the game...unless there is another problem like a failing HDD. As for your connection problem, run WinMTR Ancestral Bond. Check the Consolidated Technical sticky post for a general usage for PoE servers, but in your case, you want to set the host as patchcdn.pathofexile.com as that is the address of the patching server youyou are connecting to.
Let it run for a few minutes while you attempt to patch. It also might be worthwhile trying while connected to a VPN and also changing your DNS servers since the patching is offloaded regionally. |
