Question about rushing
|
i dont know if this has been asked about before i tried doing a couple searches didnt find anything.
one thing that annoyed me in d2 was the ability to power lvl eg. rush ppl through the acts. they tried to stop it with very little success in d2. just wondering if theres anything to try and stop this kinda thing? Kodak moments--Priceless waiting for POE beta key--Torture |

Haven't heard anything about it. The best way to do it is just to place level restrictions on parties, or adjust exp sharing between party members.

Good question OP :)
Admittedily after playing through D2 many, many times, the rushing aspect was a great feature. (whether it was intended to be a rushing feature or people just figured it out can't remember) it really broke up the eventual monotony and let you check out class build much faster. The levelling pace was pretty hectic in D2, I'm just wondering how fast it will be here? Level 98 Ice strike Monkey

well the main thing thta bothered me about it was ppl makig money off it just like gold selelrs
ppl paying money to get powerleveled ill admit it to myself after having played it for a year or so rushing was kinda nice but the paying thing still bothers me it just invites bots and spammers. so id rather not have that option alltogether if it stops them. I like the boosting in D2, it's really annoying after a while to go through act 1 and act 2 in low level with a bad party.

I'd imagine all the hard core players would like to be able to rush their characters. I don't consider my self HC, but I got burnt out on D2, and rushing was the only aspect that made it bearable to play lol. Whether it's rushing through the game with same lvls, or finding rush games.
I would be disappointed if they did put a lvl cap, or any other restriction just to keep us playing through the game. They want to encourage making new characters (and I suppose making money of the vanity of them!) and personally, I will get tired of making new characters if I have to put hours and hours into getting them into hell mode! It's nice to when you don't have 100's of hours to spend, that you can join some rush games to get into the higher levels, which in my experience is where the fun is! Just my 2 cents.. I love lamp

Imho, rushing is an important part of multiplayer ARPG's. Nothing goes over a friend helping you to level your twink fast, and vice versa.
Putting penalties or level requirements(?) to parties, just kills the fun, if you want to play together with a friend, who plays less than you and is thus a lower level. "The light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long!"

" While I agree with a less restrictive and more choice driven game world, there's nothing more game-breaking than the trivializing of content. I still want there to be some challenge to playing through the game on the hardest of difficulties, and most of all, obtaining the highest quality loots. Otherwise, competition dies and trade becomes obsolete. So I think there's a very thin line between helping a friend and doing everything for that friend by trivializing his experience. If you wish to rush your friend through some areas to help them catch up a bit then that's fine by me. Just don't expect the game to do you any favors and encourage it, IMHO. No side-kicking with higher level friends for irregular amounts of XP or short-cuts to max level. Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

" It is a failing of the game if parts are so boring/tedious/unrewarding that people want someone else to play it for them or god forbid actually pay someone else to play it for them. I hope PoE 'stops' this kinda thing by not failing in this area. |

" Well there is also a lot to be said about having played through the same area 100 times... even the most interesting content will become boring at some point. To the OP. Currently xp is shared between players, with the higher player getting more than the lower. Rushing/power leveling really isn't feasible. Of course, it is always easier in a tem so xp to death ratio may make it worth while. "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."
