Higher Ground, a Persistent World for Bioware's Neverwinter Nights
Action packed challenging party play in D&D fashion!
Do you enjoy... -Not having to pay to play a game online? -Hack-and-slash gameplay, where you can pay as much or as little attention to the underlying story as you care for? -An active and helpful community of players and developers to make your game experience the best it can be? -A well-balanced and detailed game world to escape into? -Some of the most exotic locales in Forgotten Realms lore such as the Nine Hells, the Abyss, Elysium, and the Far Realm, along with old mainstays of Toril and the Underdark? -Being challenged, in both the creation of your character and the manner in which you play it, to risk your characters' lives (in the case of the Hardcore game mode, quite literally) against the deadliest foes the multiverse has to offer? -Having some say in how the world, in which you spend countless hours playing, develops and evolves through your feedback and suggestions? Then you should see what Higher Ground has to offer! http://wiki.hgweb.org/wiki/Higher_Ground Don't own a copy of Neverwinter Nights? It has been years since I last played on Higher Ground. I have some good memories in that server. Dagoth Blackbeard really hated being petrified by frog people? in the desert.
Good teamwork is mandatory or the whole party gets wiped out easily. It has a quite mature community. If you must join only 1 NWN server, I heartily recommend this one. I can play the world's smallest violin on demand.

It's probably one of my favorite games. The impression it left me with I found hard to share with others, so I jealously steered clear from all outside interaction. NWN2 was godawful in comparison but MotB was probably the best-written entry in the series. I am not so sure that this new 'Neverwinter' MMO they are launching soon is what the franchise needed. I am getting 'Dungeons and Dragons Dragonshard' vibes. Which is, suffice it to say, not good at all.
