To be fair, the wording can rightly be misinterpreted. Causes death... A lot of things cause death in Wraeclast, and it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume it meant some other danger would approach.
But who cares? Player ignorance has always been a valid cause of death. Ever since the first organisms grew a second cell, and a long chain of events would eventually destine Path of Exile. Devolving Wilds

"Becomes fatal" is slightly ambiguous, when I read that I wondered what it meant but did consider at worst it could be instant death. If there's a timer that would clarify it somewhat, and it sounds like there is one. "Becomes" is the word that makes it ambiguous-- like it will continue in a fatal state, rather than end in a fatal trigger. Why couldn't the tooltip be unambiguous like "Players inside this map will die when time runs out"

There is a 10 second timer. Portaling out is very possible and a warning is given inside the map.

" Because GGG likes to have ambiguous wording and incomplete information on their tooltips, and HARDCOARWTFBBQ!!!! players will always defend it. Don't get me started on vaal orbs. Also, what's ambiguous about it is that "fatal" can refer to either certainty of death or the high probability of death, and is often used figuratively to mean "extreme danger" to boot. Granted, anyone who reads anything GGG says in anything but the most player-unfriendly way is just plain asking for it. Last edited by Sayyid#1990 on Oct 4, 2014, 4:48:40 PM

Gonna give OP the benefit of the doubt and assume troll rather than blatant stupidity; he doesn't play HC so why would he even care if he died.
I'll just use the opportunity to say it's an immensely fun map, just like the other new addition (the one with the multi-phase boss). Though I checked the wiki beforehand so I knew more or less what's coming, it was still a pretty close call - I got the final warning that time's almost up, though no countdown. Loot was disappointing, however, I got 4% quality on the gem box and no idea if you can reroll unique boxes (can you?) Anyway, more of these maps that add new refreshing game modes please! Hey skyforth and kruemel, stop focusing on "we didnt know fatal stands for death" crap
If you're going to show your smart ass here on an online thread, then maybe it's time you go get a life. Piling one after another on one sentencing doesn't mean your smart. It just shows your an asshole and nobody wants to be friends with you. The map is shit, there isn't enough clues telling the players the countdown was for instant death. I'm sure there's lots of players died from that stupid map. Race? Season points? Nah. Not my thing. Last edited by SicariusOblente#0751 on Oct 4, 2014, 4:56:15 PM

If you google first what this map is about before playing it,
YOU HAVE NO SAY IN THIS THREAD. If you asked around first what this map is about before playing it, YOU HAVE NO SAY IN THIS THREAD. If you want to rip me for my sentencing, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS THREAD. The wording on the map is ambiguous. The warning inside the map is ambiguous So freaking funny. Countdown over, sudden death without even any effect coming in. So where does the damage comes from? Funny Race? Season points? Nah. Not my thing.

The dmg comes from map mod. Ran this map without learning anything about it. When I see area becomes fatal, I run and kill.

I would've assumed, with GGG's history, that it truly meant instant death. However, I feel that having instant death, regardless if there is a timer, is absolutely retarded.
I don't know, it's all opinion but I do agree that it should be more blunt. And it should also not exist lol. Team Won
