There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart Path of Exile

I've been trying to log in and keep getting this message. I've restarted POE about 10 times now and can't seem to get it to update to the new patch. Any way to fix this?
Lets start with this...

Do you have a PathOfExile.tmp file in the Path of Exile folder?

If so, rename PathOfExile.exe to something else, then rename PathOfExile.tmp to PathOfExile.exe and then right-click it and select "Run as Administrator".

See if that fixes the problem.

If not, let us know and I have something else we can try.

Thanks for the help. I don't see PathOfExile.tmp in my POE directory.
Save this file into your Path of Exile folder and try it instead.
Wasn't there a firewall or anti-virus which was troubling PoE recently? Avast? Allow the PoE updater in that security software if it's there.
1. Go to game folder
2. Make sure there is client.tmp file
3. Delete Client.exe, and rename Client.tmp to Client.exe
If you dont want to do this everytime the game have update lets try to go further in solving your problem.
If it happens with each update make sure your anitivirus and brandmauer do not block the game executable or not restricting it to read only.
Does your game executable (in game folder) have read only pointer?
What antivirus do you use?
