There's Multistrike and there's Echo - where's Multi attack?
"When are we rangers going to get some sweet, sweet multi action?"
Barrage, Windripper, Drillneck, Herald of Ice/Ashe, Tornado Shot... There really is no need for multi action on rangers... they have so many good things. Why water the content down by giving everybody the same thing? Last edited by DestroTheGod#5470 on Sep 6, 2014, 11:14:26 AM

Multistrike was needed, but Spell Echo was not. A "Multi" anything for Bows would be overkill.

The reason Multistrike was added to the game in the first place was to buff melee (compared to ranged attacks). Not sure why echo was introduced...

So we turned Gorge into a red map" |

I feel like it should be something more unique than your classic Strafe skill. Which Barrage already is, anyway.
I'm already starting to grow tired of Spell Echo, which is a shame, since it really just feels like a better version of Faster Casting, more so than Multistrike when compared to Faster Attacks. They both have a certain mechanic to balance them; Spell Echo forces another cast, and Multistrike hits random monsters near you. The latter can actually be considered an advantage, especially with Flicker Strike builds, but also in terms of spreading your damage evenly. Spell Echo is much more disadvantageous. When I first saw it, I thought Spell Echo would cast the second spell by itself. I still feel like it should. It's not really an echo if it's just you casting a second time, and with repeated casts, you can't even tell it apart from a really high cast speed. Anyway, back on topic. I can't think of a good way to implement it right now. Projectiles return has already been introduced, and it's not really a comparison. Personally I'd love a way to shoot a constant stream of projectiles with even time in between shots, instead of bursts like Barrage does. Although I will admit, shooting a bunch of arrows in one burst (no spread), be it at once or in rapid succession, with the drawback being a high attack speed penalty, would be interesting too. Or how about something where you fire 2 additional shots afterwards, even while moving (they still come from your position)? Maybe even one where they chain between you and the enemy, with the limit of chains being determined by your ability to catch the projectile? Wouldn't that be amusing? |

"The more cast speed offsets the "forced cast" significantly, much more than Faster Casting as a gem AND you get the extra casts essentially free. And multistrike has the same downside plus random targetting, you just attack much faster wit ha weapon than you cast a spell in nearly all situations. There could be a "Rapid Fire" support gem:
1 - Similar behavior to Multistrike but for Ranged. 2 - You cannot move for 10 seconds after performing a ranged attack. Gem level (or perhaps quality) lowers the immobilization, possibly as low as 6 at best. Forum Warrior - Why are you creating a thread about this subject? Use Search! Also Forum Warrior - Nice necro.
