Farming XP

I Would like to know, where and at what level, folks farm xp? not so much in normal but cruel (act 3), and definitely merciless. I keep seeing things like ledge xp runs but Ive been to ledge its not that amazing.. too short. So where do you farm xp?

Act 1 - Ledge
Act 2 - Fellshrine Ruins
Act 3 - Docks until you can survive in Catacombs (best choice) or Library + Archives

Short and full of monster packs is good. Do you use ctrl + click on the Ledge entrance to immediately create a new instance after you make it from one side to the other? With Catacombs, I exit to character select as soon as I clear the boss area, then teleport right back to the entrance after I sell my loot and bank currency items.

In other news, I'm guessing there is a 5 level limit to the area level? for example..say fellshrine is level 40-something in cruel.. i think 43ish.. will i start getting less xp to the point where i get none at 48?

you always get exp, but obviously it's better to farm a zone that matches your level.

That being said, if you're lvl 78 for example, doing lvl 78 content will not get you leveled up faster than doing lvl 69 maps because the content becomes too hard and the monsters have much more hp. Unless you're doing obscene amounts of dps and have great defenses, but I'm guessing that's not the case.

Killing the most monsters in the shortest amount of time = best exp

This Experience Efficiency Chart may help.

As a side note, Chamber of Sins 1 has significantly higher mob density than Fellshrine. However, successive patches have made the mobs in it much scarier than they used to be, so farm there only if you're sure you can survive.
