Not logging in does NOT mean someone is not interested in the game. It just means that they haven't posted. There are people who visit the site regularly without ever logging in because they don't want to post.

It would be unfair and unethical for us to remove their chance of getting in just for not posting. Accounts which post already have 10x the chance compared to non-posting accounts.

Open Beta is in a month or so, so it doesn't seem worth changing so close to everyone being able to play!

Mark forget's one critical thing.
The "possibility" of there being a lot of abandoned accounts.

If you go by this possibility, then it's a good idea to stop giving out passes to inactive accounts. Since anyone who IS interested but doesn't log in, will most likely check their email and such for information about the game. So they will have to read that they need to log in to keep their account active. Otherwise they won't get a pass and will have to wait till after beta.

This is NOT unfair to anyone. The thing that is unfair to people is the fact that there are people waiting, when there is a possibility that most of these beta keys are going to abandoned accounts.
Making the people who are actively waiting, wait even longer.

I Simply do not get why the gm's came to this conclusion. It is an incomplete assessment of a situation that doesn't seem to get much attention even after many have complained.
The only reasonable thing Rory said was that the open beta is coming very soon. But the observation that there are possibly accounts that WILL NOT be used even after getting a pass is very much a valid possibility. So asking everyone who IS waiting patiently (active or inactive) to login every now and then just to keep the "system" aware of the fact that they are still waiting. Is not an unethical thing to do. That statement is just ridiculous.. (Do human beings ever take responsibility to know their world better? Don't quite see that from this situation. Good job guys, next time think a bit more before you reply to someone's pm )
