Restorative Justice Essay, Help?

Hey team,

I'm writing an essay on Restorative Justice for my class and I am going pretty well on it.

I am mentioning the Community aspects in one paragraph

The values it has in another

and lastly the rehabilitation focus for the victim, offender and community.

If anyone has any input I'd be happy to hear it.
I've managed to tie it into some New Zealand context as they have adopted this for a few thing but other countries would be sweet as well.

Oh yea, I'm sort of writing that is it better than the current retributive systems that are used.

Some of you might not agree with that and thats cool, This is purely for schoolwork.

No pros and cons lists?

It is a research essay and it is limited to about 7-8 pages double spaced I think that's like 1500 words. Because I am sort of taking a promotion approach to it compared to current systems of punishment I think I should leave out the cons.

If I was allowed more words I would go into the cons and stuff but because I am so limited I am only focusing on the pros.

All good research papers address the cons to their position. Without going into the Cons I would personally have to down-grade the paper. I would suggest touching on the major points.

You will also have to potentially touch on its viability given that the USA (I assume this is where the target is) has a ridiculously high incarceration rate 'for profit' and many are in for minor offenses like minor drug offenses.

Dam, you have a really good point there. Would it be possible to just mention the cons in the conclusion of the paper? Or would you expect a entire paragraph on the matter?

I got the problem that I have already blown the word limit and have a 10% margin I am allowed so 1650 words before I start getting hit with the "you wrote too much stick"

Thanks heaps for mentioning the incarceration rate for profit. I'll deff be incorporating that.

Yeah the privatization of the prison system is a big problem... essentially turning prisons into corporations, giving huge incentives (billions of dollars) to make them bigger and more appealing as a primary option.

Anyway, you don't have to go into separate paragraphs for cons... what you should do is at least touch on counterpoints when you're talking about your Pro points such that you aren't leaving massive holes behind.

Such examples as a general archetype might be:

A benefit is this pro, and while some hold the opinion that Con or it might be true that in some cases Con, the tradeoff for the Pro has been shown to be worth it.

Anyway, all good persuasive papers address the major weaknesses of their position.
