" That means the driver has crashed for some reason... in some cases, it is because the GPU is improperly timed or overclocked. Sometimes if you can put your timings back to default, or set the clock speed back to default (or even underclocked slightly) you can prevent this from happening.... if a CLEAN install of the drivers doesn't fix it. I didn't read the entire thread, so I'm not sure if you've done this, but it might be worthwhile to download Driver Sweeper, boot to safe-mode, and run it to remove the current GPU drivers, then install the latest drivers directly from the website of the video brand (nvidia site, amd site, or intel site). The brand site is where you'll likely get the best and most recent drivers... MSI, EVGA, etc often have outdated drivers, and you don't usually have to install the "branded" version of drivers.... the main manufacturer's version is usually acceptable (or better). The only exception with this is stuff like HP or Dell where they built a specific card for a specific system and require special drivers. |

under-clock your video card and see if it helps (nvidia inspector)

On NVIDI forum there is video on how to under-clock your video card https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/720026/geforce-500-400-series/gt-540m-on-dell-xps-15-l502x-buzzing-and-freezing-constantly/2/
Try the suggestion from here to replace carging adapter http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/373918-33-nvidia-geforce-540m-freezes Sorry for my English, it's not my native language. Last edited by Ekalindorskii#4804 on Aug 30, 2014, 3:21:40 AM
