Do not have required quest state

Hi,
I killed Vaal the Overseer and exited the room through the entrance. I get to the City of Sarn and I get the message "Do not have the required quest state". Not sure what to do now. Character Name:Necromancer_Slice. Thanks. Edit: Just used the waypoint to go to my hideout. Now I can't use the waypoint to get back to Act 3. I get the same message. When does that error come up? What EXACTLY are you trying to do?
Can you provide a screenshot as well? Maybe a video if possible? |

I am trying to click the entrance to the city zone (where all the vendors and quest givers are) I have cleared the area between the "apex" and the city and even have the way point. I could take a screen shot but it would show anything but a message on the screen showing the message from my post above.

What does your quest log say for uncompleted quests?
Does it think you've finished the quest to GET to Act 3? Has town in Act 2 been saved, etc? Do you need to go back to town in Act 2 and finish all the quests? |

The quest is telling me to go to the caverns. I've already been there and up through the "pyramid" and killed Vaal, then headed for Sarn.
I guess I'll just have to do it again, although I don't have the quest item to activate Vaal when I get there. |

OK... Did you happen to kill the Oversoul while in a party?
Did you not have your own Apex? Did you complete all the Bandit quests to get yourself an Apex? You need to complete the apex on your own character to be able to move on... so you have to have the proper quest states to complete that. You can be invited to groups and kill the oversoul all day long, but it won't progress the quest unless you have the proper quest states. |

I have played completely solo. I killed all the bandits and got the skill point quest reward. Interestingly enough, all of the people in the forest encampment are thanking me for getting rid of the darkness etc.
Somehow, the quest did not update properly. |

Is this in Normal difficulty, Cruel, or Merciless? Are you sure you're in the right difficulty version of town?
I know that sometimes going to hideouts and stuff can reset the difficulty level... check in the Waypoint page. |

It's in normal.
Thank for your help, it's midnight here and I need to head for bed. Hopefully, support can get this straightened out. If not I'll head back to the top and see if it will work out somehow. Thanks again. |

Take a screenshot of your quest log along with the error mesage when attempting to warp to the Act 3 area waypoint. It will help eliminate any and all chance of this being a fake bug report (Though it is quite unlikely that you are faking the report)
