barrage crit chance in ref. to CoC
I did a bit of searching on the forums, wiki, and reddit, and did not find an answer to this question:
When you use barrage, do each of the projectiles have a chance to crit? Or do you only have one chance to crit on all of the projectiles from one use of the skill? In other words, does it make sense to use barrage in a cast on crit build? For reference, here's what the wiki says about critical strikes that has me confused: "Critical Strikes are rolled on a per-action basis, not per-monster. So each time you use a skill, the Critical Strike roll is made once and only once." |

barrage is one of the best skills for CoC
crit is rolled only once per action. if barrage with GMP crits, you have 8 projectiles with crit potencial.
but each projectile is treated like this: 1) your accuracy is checked vs enemy evasion. if it succeeds, enemy is hit 2) your accuracy is checked again vs enemy evasion. if it succeeds, enemy is critically hit 3) now you have a chance (based on your CoC gem level) to cast linked spell(s) IGN: Eric_Lindros

each projectile is checked for the potential to critically strike if barrage crits? Which means CoC could potentially proc 8 times?

well you roll crit only once for all 8 projectiles (with GMP), but the individual crits on enemies have to be cofirmed by accuracy vs evasion roll
example: barrage + gmp + coc + arctic breath + fireball your chance to hit: 90% lvl 16 CoC gem (60% chance to proc) * you roll a crit and 8 projectiles are fired on enemies * 7,2 (8*0,9) projectiles (on average) hit the enemies and 6,48 (7,2*0,9) projectiles hit critically * now, each spell has 60% chance to be procced by every critical hit - average number of procs = 2*(6,48*0,6) = 7,77 edit: the cooldown is 10ms, not 50ms IMO barrage is the best with wand, they have much higher base crit, so you need less crit nodes..
