Fresh economy

I find it strange that people list "new fresh economy" as the greatest benefit of new leagues.

What does that even mean?

Sure, if you are a trader/flipper something can be done, but economy deals with other people and how you are standing related to them, richer or poorer.

What does it add to your personal playing enjoyment?
It's fucking amazing is what it means.

It means everyone starts with an empty stash. That is pretty significant.

It means that every skill gem you find usually means something instead of being your 14th of the same skill that you are just going to leave on the ground again.

It means the number of gear drops that will actually be useful to you is 1000x higher than 3 months from now.

It means everybody starts over from a clean slate in the most literal form.

"Sure, if you are a trader/flipper something can be done, but economy deals with other people and how you are standing related to them, richer or poorer.

Because you get to start over relative to everybody else playing the game. It might sound crazy, but a large majority of people in the world care about how well others are doing compared to themselves. This applies to everything in real life; not just games or PoE.

This question is not something that should be restricted to the PoE game world. I would recommend you try to find a psychologist to ask why people would care about their standing in anything. I'd assume though that the answer has something to do with competitiveness as a basic human trait. When the leagues reset, you have a chance to compete to do better than you did last time.

And as a literal example, new leagues = more easy to sell gear . So if you're somebody who enjoys trading simply to accumulate wealth and/or you are already extremely wealthy in a past league, you could simply find it enjoyable to start over and try to build your wealth again faster, and even higher.

So, yeah.

I don't understand why you think it's strange when the vast majority of the player base feels this way. In fact, it's strange to not feel this way imo.

Personally I like the fresh start...I like getting excited when I see a chaos, a chrome, or a pair of boots with 3 res and MS. Simple things that when I find in standard I might just vendor. It just adds a whole new breath of life to the game I love to play.

It means you can buy a league specific unique that will cost 3 exalt in the future, for 3 chaos, right now. Cuz everyone is broke. New leagues are basically a +Luck modifier, cuz even modest luck can make u look like a boss.

Fresh economy is bullshit, thats waht it means, because everyone has the standard prices on mind and everthing is listed with bo on poexyz anyways
