This item already has a mod of this type?

Little confused about master crafting.

I have this axe:

and successfully put the 43% increased physical damage on it.

Yet when i try to do the same for this mace:

it says "This item already has a mod of this type".

Doesn't entirely make sense to me. Can someone explain why this is happening?

because on the Axe you have % phys damage/accuracy hybrid prefix thus % phys damage prefix can be crafted

The mace already has % phys damage prefix and cannot have two prefixes of the same kind

edit: and the mace already has max number of affixes

The first item started with a combo mod of phys damage and accuracy and you added a plain phys damage mod. The second already has a plain phys damage mod so you can't add another.

Edit: took too long to type

So the 71% increased physical damage on the axe is linked with the +88 accuracy rating and is counted as 1 prefix where as the 141% increased physical damage is purely on its own and because of that the master crafting system doesn't allow the same prefix to be added to it?

If so I wish it was somehow made clear they were linked. Looks completely separate to me.
Also makes the weapon master pointless for me now. Just figured out i can only put the 1 mod on an item too. Was under the impression/hope i could actually craft an item now and build a weapon up from scratch by adding, inc phy dmg + attack speed + added phy dmg etc. Instead it's just the 1 mod and now i can't even add anything of use extra onto my mace. Seems like this will be true for my amour, rings etc making most of the masters pointless to have.

Thoroughly disappointed.

Thanks for that, useful site. Just wish it was made clear in game.
So does this mean every item that has % Phy Dmg and +Acu Rat are the hybrid prefix and not a separate prefix and suffix? If not how do you tell the difference?

For example this mace:

has acu rat and % phy.

Going from the website mentioned above I see it as potentially having:

Prefix
Prefix
Prefix

Suffix
Suffix

OR

Prefix Hybrid
Prefix
Prefix

Suffix

So how do i know which one it is? Does it have:

Prefix
Local Physical Dmg +%

Suffix
Local Accuracy Rating

Or just:

Prefix hybrid
Local Physical Dmg +% / Local Accuracy Rating

?
You can't tell just by looking at it. But if there are 6 line items you can put it in the vendor window and see if the vendor would pay 1 Orb of Augmentation, you know it is 6 separate mods. If any two of the line items are a single mod, the vendor would offer you something else for it.

Well that completely sucks then. The only way I can see the weapon master being of use to me is if i buy a new weapon with the hybrid mod on it and add the normal % phy to it. But if i can't tell if the mod is a hybrid or not before I've brought it then I'm taking a massive risk each purchase.

I was looking forward to this expansion, now it's just turning into pants :(

What you are disappointed with is a mechanic that has been in this game from the beginning. It has nothing to do with Forsaken Masters and everything to do with the mods on items not being sorted in a way that makes any sense.

Generally if something has % phys and + accuracy, it's one prefix. But there's also a + accuracy suffix that, I believe, can appear on weapons, so if you have THAT and the % phys prefix is gets really confusing. And that has been causing confusion with NORMAL, RNG-based orb crafting long before Masters crafting was a thing.
