Ball Lightning CC build (Not meant for solo play)

Hey Guys,

This is my first attempt at creating my own build after following guides in previous leagues.
This build is not meant for solo play (as its not very survivable), but it works great as a CC (Crowed Control) character in a party.

I'm still playing around with different gear and support gems (this is a work in progress) - but so far its been a pretty fun build

The idea behind this build is to keep everything frozen for as long as possible - while the rest of your party kills them. This means stacking crit as much as possible. I am getting all power charges from the tree (and the one from the bandit in Merciless)

In order to get Ball Lightning to Freeze - I am using the Three Dragons Golden Mask Unique
To keep power charges up - I am using Voll's Protector.

For added defense - I am also running AA (Arctic Armour)

At the moment - with my power charges up - Ball Lightning has a 42% Crit chance. With Critical weakness, this is almost 50%.

If I get the currency - I would like to see what this build will do with Void Battery and Doryani's Invitation

Any feedback/tips are greatly appreciated

Ball lightning has very low average damage per hit which makes it a poor choice for this type of build.

I don't see this being very viable, as even with all that crit multi the freeze duration is just going to be too low, and tankier mobs will never get frozen at all.

Also if you are doing crit ball lightning you need extra gore mtx.

Is there another skill that I can/should use in its place? Arc Maybe with added chain? Ball Lightning is nice in that it pierces through mobs so you can almost blindly shoot down a corridor and what ever is waiting on the other side might get frozen.

No lightning skill is going to be competitive with freeze mine or coldsnap, but if you are not keen on respecing I would suggest storm call+ picking up the witch and templar aoe nodes.

Edit: Turns out I am wrong about skill choices here. Since you are using voll's, discharge is an option for long duration freezing. And arc now hits much harder than storm call or shock nova is nce it was buffed a while back.

Lightning penetration would outperform added lightning in most cases, against resistant enemies in particular.

I would also recommend using multiple curses. I've at least used a dual curse unique on all of my characters since domination. It is just an easy way to add another multiplier to your damage/overall effectiveness.

Adding temp chains in particular will double your freeze duration. As a support build I would recommend ele weakness over crit weakness in most cases.

I also notice that your build is very fragile. I would not go below 3.5-4k life/es even in a party build, and you will still have to be very careful if you don't have a lot of mitigation.
