pathofexilesteam.exe has stopped working when using nvidia graphics card

I have a problem where the game will not use my nvidia card; it uses the intel integrated graphics card.
I try right clicking the game and clicking the option to run the game with the nvidia card, but it still uses the intel card. When I put the executable file in the nvidia control panel and select nvidia processor, I will get the "pathofexilesteam.exe has stopped working" error message right when the game launches.

I use the nvidia gpu activity icon to verify that the game does not use the nvidia card.

Maybe try changing in game GPU settings by editing the settings file in the game folder?

I could not change my card in game.
But it looks like it is something wrong with the steam executable. The path of exile normal executable gets detected automatically by my computer and uses my nvidia card. Looks like I have to make a new account.
