Cannot use Jewellers's Orb on one pair of Gloves

I was trying to change the number of slots of my Sadima's Touch Wool Gloves, but after successfully using 1 Jeweller, I couldn't reroll slots anymore, only got the standard error message "Failed to apply item. Make sure it's the right type [...]"
The item has currently 2 slots, not the maximum. I did not do any other action between Jewellers's tentatives. There is no gems inside. It is in my inventory, not equipped. Jewellers's Orbs are working fine on other items. I can successfully use Chromatic Orbs on it. I restarted the game. So basically, I only have 1 items which is stuck for Jeweller's only. The sad thing is that this is a IIQ item... so not that common... Anybody encountered and fixed this issue ? Thanks in advance for your help ! |

If you select the item and type /itemlevel in the chat, what does it come up with? It's possible the item is not of a high enough level to have more than two sockets, so that would be considered its "maximum" number and would prevent you from further using Jewellers' orbs on it. Like Dan has pointed out, it's item level related and once the max number of sockets has been reached for the item level you can't waste more jewelers on it.

Thanks for your answers Dan and Lagwin, this is effectively the problem, the iLvl is 3 !
I wasn't expecting this at all, as I have seen 3/4L before. I guess they were some legacy ones ! Thanks a lot again for your support in solving this mistery. Have fun with the game. Cheers |

" Not legacy, think the current socket limitation has been in place for a good long while, the only thing that changed was not being able to waste more jewelers on a result you never get. The ones you saw probably had a higher item level, keep in mind that the drops, even the low level requirement uniques can drop anywhere, if you were running a level 71 map and got the item it would have an item level of 71 or more depending on if it dropped from white monsters or magic/rare/unique ones. I didn't know Uniques could have different iLvls.
That makes them less unique than I thought ;) Thanks for the info, I'm playing since 2 months only, it's a pleasure to learn everyday. |
