Just to elaborate a bit on probations, they aren't something we give out easily either, and are very dependent on prior infractions, as well as the severity.

This needs to be changed. Discuss

What is wrong with GGG not handing out probations to the left and to the right? Or am i missing a point

What's to discuss? You didn't make a single point.

prior infractions
Is the problem.

I prefer the way Riot does it, the tribunal at 9;20, High punishement = worst behaviour. Contrary to here where high punishement = multiple small non significant mistakes. Encouraging the player to continue because they are angry (Look at 13:00 + ).

The prison system has it right, first time offenders don't get that high a penalty, the more you repeat the higher your punishment.

That's just plain old intuitive.

You give people a chance to learn, and so just an initial taste of being locked down, but if they refuse to learn and continue to do bad they will face the full consequence of their actions.

It doesn't mean the highest penalties occur for small repeated things either.

made a moderately-offensive post about a certain religion (hint: one who's followers tend to get offended easily, and express it quite... dramatically) in an off-topic forum thread about it.
though nothing close to the in-game Global Chat 1 type of offensive.

got almost a week of probation.

will probably get a warning right about now, just for daring to mention it.

moderation doesn't really seem to follow any guidelines recently.
being put on probation or not, and duration of it, seem down to the whims of the individual moderator patrolling the thread at that point.

but GGG don't like discussing moderation - so here comes the thread lock.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
Well yes, it's usually a coin toss if the one moderating in the given moment is quick to draw forth the banhammer or not.

Not it is not.
Studies have spoken, and results can be found on the video i linked, i will write it for the lazy (minute 12:55) :

%Change in report per game after a punishement

♦♦♦♦ When players received a warning.. on average they did get better.
(Fewer reports per game after their warning)

♦♦♦♦ But when they received : 3-day / 7-day / 14-day ban, they got worse. They were angry. They came back to the game confused and ( actually got more reports after their punishement)

The way it normally goes is: Warning, maybe more warnings, smaller probations, increased probations, ban if bad enough.

Warnings and all are nice, and, you know, they are given out from what i've seen, but when warned people continue mishabits eventually they are probated, if they keep going still they eventually get longer probations.

I mean i think you are putting more into that statement than it contains, it doesn't mean they should treat players like shit, it simply means people who continue to do wrong will eventually receive increased penalties which is a very sound system. If they keep doing actions that damage the forums, and warnings to stop doing it does not help, then what else should happen?

If support are trigger happy landing probations unjustly, that's another topic.
