Lightning coil, Cloak of flame & Cloak of defiance (mis)calculations

pretty sure arctic is after resistances and armor but before mana damage and life damage. then mana gain is indeel after.

Well surely this means that anyone running Cloak of Defiance will now realise their folly and buy my 5l Cloak of Flame ;)

I picked the order of calculation from a post somewhere, but failed to find it again. It had mod commentary and i assumed it was correct.

Surely you noticed that for this specific scenario i calculated in the very difficult to obtain 6% damage taken gained as mana corrupt mod on rings, amulet and shield along with perfect Mindspiral with 5% mom corrupt and Ondar's flight. With helmet, body armour and boot slots determined you're somewhat locked with what your build can do. Using cloak of flame in a setup like this would also mean taking the long way from eldritch battery keystone down to mind over matter keystone.

Seeing how the endgame content spans with atziri and side bosses, palace, shrine etc. dealing mostly physical, fire and lightning you're way better off just getting high max resists along with lightning coil. Not to even mention that mom+eb+aa+ lots of spellblock is very expensive on the tree. Cloak of flame and Cloak of defiance are just vastly inferior.

sorry, i was only correcting kaarelo, not you =p

although honestly, in situations of reflection, fixed gains is before damage taken (as people with vaal pact can attest), so that measure of truth holds fairly solid.

I added another lightning coil scenario with 30k armour and 7 endurance charges (3 from tree & 1 from oak merciless) along with maxed lightning res.

I've read that vaal smash is 4k phys and 4k fire damage. Really puts it into perspective how defensive you can get with lightning coil. If that 500hp hit seems too dangerous for you, you can also boost your defensive ability by getting an extra endurance charge from your belt with the corrupted mod and 2 from rings. While you're going around templar/marauder side of the tree getting maxed fire resist with a similar setup is not a big deal.
