Steam no more detect PoE and reinstall it, desptite it's still here

Hi,

This is the 4th time this happened to me, the last two being today and two days ago. So basically Steam no more detects the game and decides to reinstall it, despite it's still here. This is very annoying as you can guess.

Some additional info that might be useful. My steam client is installed on my C drive which is a small SSD. Because it's small I have redirected the steamaps directory to my HDD with a junction (mkdir /D), and because PoE is so long to load and not that big, I have redirected my PoE directory on my SSD :D. This is transparent to the application, I have used junctions for years now, without any problems, mainly at office. But who knows...

Does someone know how to fix this definitely?
Thanks!

If the witches watching watches watch the same watch while you watch which witch watches which watch, they switch watches; then, the watch switching witches watch which watch you watch.

I think you mean mklink not mkdir, and I know that not all software in windows can properly behave with links. It can be hit or miss if the link actually works like you expect it to depending on the software that is using the link.

also another possible problem might be that you are using /D which is a directory symbolic link, NOT a junction. /H does a hard link instead of a symbolic link, and /J does a directory junction. Make sure you know which one you actually want.

Either way, those don't always work right and aren't always properly supported. It was Microsoft's attempt at supporting links like linux does (where it usually works right). The main problem in Windows is that the NTFS filesystem doesn't really treat all things equal. In linux, EVERYTHING is a "file" type for the most part, and even directories are just specialized types of files. It simplifies everything and allows proper linking like you are attempting to do (the OS doesn't generally know differently in most cases).

The only other thing I can think of is that either Path of Exile was added to Steam as a "local" game (not installed through the Steam store, but linked from a prior install), or something is causing corruption which is forcing Steam to re-validate/re-install Path of Exile a lot.

Good luck.
Yes, I meant mklink. And I don't remember if I've used /D or /J xD, it's been a long time. The game was installed at 1st from steam. Next time this happens, I think I'll just move back my steamapps directory in C:\, uninstal the huge games and reinstall poe properly.

Thanks for your answer.
