Animate Guardian Double Unique Shield Guide
" With this comment, I thought it would be fun to take a look at all the unique shields in the game when the Guardian is essentially dual-wielding them. Note, the following stats are based on maximum rolls & I've removed bonuses that the Guardian can't use. Aegis Aurora x 2: 68% Block 748 Armor 220 Energy Shield +40% Elemental Weapon Damage +20% Elemental Resist +10% Max Cold Resist Replenish Energy Shield by 4% of Armour when you block You probably don't want to dual-wield Aegis Aurora simply because it's a really expensive item to risk losing if the guardian dies, but if you can afford it, this is a strong contender for best shield to double up on. Chernobog's Pillar x 2: 56% Block 1790 Armour +100% Fire Resist 50% of Physical Damage converted to Fire Damage 10% chance to curse enemies with enfeeble on hit Not too exciting, but if you want to try a physical->fire conversion guardian, this will let you do it. Atziri's Mirror x 2: 56% Block 1384 Evasion +120 Int +60% Element Resist Reflect Curses Lots of elemental resist but otherwise not that great. Crest of Perandus x 2: 80% Block 88 Evasion 6% Physical Damage Leeched as Life +160 Max Life 15 Life Regen/sec +60% Lightning Resist Here's a fun cheap combo. Maxed out block chance, lots of lightning resist, lots of life for the early game, and plenty of life leech & life regen to help your guardian alive. Daresso's Courage x 2: 64% Block 466 Armour 466 Evasion 240% Block Recovery +40% Physical Damage +40% Elemental Resist 240% Block Chance applied to Spells when on Low Life Decent overall with nice stats, element resist, and physical damage bonus. Gives the guardian some nice emergency defenses in the form of spell block on low life. Jaws of Agony x 2: 52% Block 420 Evasion 124 Energy Shield Reflect 520 Physical Damage to Melee Attackers +50% Physical Damage +160 Life -36 Physical Damage from Attacks The guardian can't use the trap bonuses but the extra life, physical damage, and reduced physical damage from attacks are all nice. Probably not worth it compared to other shields though. Kaltenhalt x 2: 62% Block 524 Evasion +100% Cold Resist +10% Max Cold Resist Reflect 100 Cold Damage to Melee Attackers Cheap way to get a ton of cold resist. Lioneye's Remorse x 2: 66% Block 2842 Armour +200 Life -10% Move 40% Block & Stun Recovery -50 Physical Damage from Projectile Attacks Good block & lots of life & armour. Matua Tapuna x 2: 56% Block 90 Energy Shield +20% Increased Effect of Auras on You Unless there's some sort of weird interaction with the minion aura bonuses, this is a pointless combo. Prism Guardian x 2: 48% Block 324 Armour 96 Energy Shield +74% Elemental Resist +60 Dex Really high elemental resist but otherwise weak. Keep in mind that the primary use of Prism Guardian still works even with Necromantic Aegis since you still get all your gem effects. Rathpith Globe x 2: 60% Block 436 Energy Shield 72% Spell Block (120% Block Chance applied to spells) +20% Life +50% Lightning Resist Easy way to get really high spell block without sacrificing regular block. Rise of the Phoenix x 2: 52% Block 508 Armour 148 Energy Shield +16% Elemental Resist +50% Fire Resist (+100% when low life) +16% Max Fire Resist 12 Life regen/sec +20% Move when low life Cannot be ignited when low life Mediocre stats but it gives the guardian a whopping 91% Max Fire Resist. Combine it with a high LV Purity of Fire & some +Aura Effect passives & you could conceivably make your guardian essentially invulnerable against fire. Saffell's Frame x 2: 52% Block (0% = Cannot block attacks) 83% Spell Block (160% block chance applied to spells) 388 Armour 114 Energy Shield +28% Elemental Resist +8% Max Resist Gives maximum spell block & increases max resists but lacks regular block or other useful stats. Springleaf x 2: 48% Block 66 Armour 22 Energy Shield +8% Elemental Resist 100% reduced Freeze duration 12% Life Regen/sec when low life Now here's an interesting combination. The actual stats are pretty bad (low armour, energy shield, and block) but it makes the guardian essentially immune to freeze. More importantly, it gives a HUGE amount of life regen when it hits low life, thus giving it a strong emergency death prevention measure. Titucius' Span x 2: 48% Block (+50% against Projectiles) 896 Armour +100 Life -20 Physical Damage from Projectiles 400% Increased Armour against Projectiles Great defense against projectiles but not much else. Wheel of the Stormsail x 2: 58% Block 42 Armour 22 Evasion +80% Rarity +200% Duration of Curses on you Big boost to rarity (which I assume works on guardian kills). |

Really nice how you went through them regardless of expensiveness. If I am correct they still never fixed the rarity bonuses on guardians so the last one is wasting a mf item as you will not benefit from the guardian kills.

" Yup. Wheel of the Stormsail is entirely useless if you have Necromantic Aegis. Minions use your IIQ/R, not theirs (otherwise all that IIQ/R gear wouldn't work at all). Supports do work. |

How about mixing it up for some dual buff bonuses?
Let's say for example, rathpits globe + crest of parendus/ daresso's courage? extreme block chance and pretty solid immunity vs spells on low life :'). Better give that blocking guardian the armor that provides a 5% flat regen aura on block imo! :D you can combine 2 different shields right :D? This is very interesting info, thank you for this! Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

interesting!
Now how to get the guardian to do insane damage? I think having 2 jaws would make this stat extremely powerful: "Reflect 520 Physical Damage to Melee Attackers" If that physical damage is modified by your (the guardian's) damage boosts it would make it like a free lvl 20 EK hit every time your guardian gets attacked IGN: OldManBalls (Warbands) Last edited by demivion#2965 on Jun 24, 2014, 2:31:07 PM

I don't think reflect damage is affected by damage bonuses. If it is, then you might actually be able to deal solid reflect damage on a guardian with a dual Jaws of Agony setup and enough minion damage bonuses.
It's probably completely impractical, but I'd be curious to try and see if you could create a low life Guardian by giving it a Death's Oath and then using 1 or 2 Springleafs to stabilize its life. |
