Maruader with BM gem + auras... worth it?

Hey all,

i'm building a 2h marauder mace, with ground slam and heavy strike.
First i wanted to get Blood Magic to get rid of any mana issues.

But now i wonder if it would be better to get 1-2 auras up (determination and vitality)
and use Blood Magic gems to reduce the cost of my skills? Or will this waste my dps or other opportunities?

Also, with the added auras, will i be more tanky in the endgame, or will it add only little ?
If it adds enough i could skip some defense nodes and grab some dps nodes instead :).

I was thinking of doing the same thing with the auras, will be able to do it next level to not lose huge dps. Will write back with how it plays out today.
