Priority in vendor recipe
Just a little thing:
I just got two rare mirrored 6 socket items from a strongbox, and noticed that instead of 14 jewellers, the vendor offers a single orb of chance for "two rares with the same name". That's not a big thing, but obviously 14 jewellers are worth more than a single chance orb. Usually it works, you get the "highest" reward while selling, the game is even clever enough to fulfill the chaos recipe + some other rares in a way that it uses the least "valuable" rares for the recipe and gives the best currency return. Here it seems off. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519 Last edited by Peterlerock#5171 on Jun 5, 2014, 4:59:43 AM

I think this is one of the few cases where it makes sense though. Since you can easily sell those items individually to acquire the jewelers orbs instead of the chance orb.

I know it's not a big deal, but it is uncommon for this game to neglect the "priority order".
If a sell a 6S rare with 3 linked sockets in RGB, the game says: "I could give him alt shards... but wait... this is also chromatic...i give a chromatic orb... but wait, it is also 6S, I give 7 jewellers." Here the "lower" recipe is prioritized, and that's wrong. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

Vendor recipes are evaluated in a strict priority order determined by us - the game makes no judgement of output value. Multiple component recipes always take priority over single component recipes because you can just vendor the items individually if you want that result (as Clive pointed out).

" This^ They don't have to be vended together, it is actually giving you the option to take jewellers or the chance. Augmentation orb blocking my whetstone recipe (hell, aug offer actually existing) or chrome blocking my alch recipe, though :( " Uhhhm, no. Casually casual. " Yes yes yes yes yes yes please. Someone suggested a while ago, not sure if it was you Clive or Arch...but have the two vendor npcs have different priorities. Ive lost 3-4 alch shards before because the rare had 6 affixes. The affixes included a lot of MF and a + to gems. Alch = 8 alt. 4 alch shards = .2 alch or 1.something alts which is obviously greater than an aug. |

It's possible that I overlooked those specific ones when I was re-ordering priorities the last time, although I was pretty sure I got all of them. I guess I'll look into it.
As far as the 20% quality recipe only working on whites, I have no idea - it was implemented before my time. It's possible that the sell price for the magic/rare mods was considered to be more important? |
