Overkill affects drops?

I can't help but question if "overkill" aids in drop rate.

I've played this game mostly with high dps, low damage high atk spd builds and i've done my fair share of farming. i've never ran any MF on any of my characters and im pretty used to what is typical drop rates.

over the last week i transitioned my build into something new which is a LOT more bursty dmg. definitely a lot more dmg per hit and i can't help but notice the insane improvement of drops i've had.
usually i'd get a unique per day if i was lucky and played all day, usually 4-5 per week in my typical play. in this week (like, since monday) i've already racked up 11 uniques including 3 one in map, and two in another. im not doing anything different, just farming low lvl maps and corrupted areas as per usual.

now more so than the unique count is the useable decent rares i've gotten. i NEVER get usable rares and im always so used to just npcing everything because of my terrible MF and such, but lately i've racked up an entire stash tab of sellable decent gear! this has literally never happened in the least and i just can't help but attribute it to my recent buff in raw damage per strike.

i know RNG is RNG but we all know once you play a character for months doing the same thing all day every day you get a 'feel' for that character and what is normal.
i guarantee you this streak is abnormal...to a point where im literally posting this possibility on the gameplay forums even though i know i'll get your typical replies "rng", "cool story bro".
and yes i know somebody is going to say both those things just because i mentioned it.

in any case i can't help but feel and think every time i get shock stacks on the right character and explode him for much more damage than what his HP pool could handle, out pops a unique. one that i don't get either, like a higher tier or something.

PS. since my transition i have 0% rarity, and in fact my previous build had 16% so it is obviously not anything of that sort.

edit: just now, after writing this i go vid a dominus run to showcase my terrible solo DPS and boom he drops 2 uniques, one being BoR. the 2nd best unique drop i've ever gotten.

No it doesn't.
This would give reason behind my unending goal to do "tons of damage." As such, it must not work.

this post is literally pointless.
just saying it doesn't is as valid as me saying it does without any of the subjective evidence i've gone through and posted.

PS just ran a map and thats the 4th time i've had 2 uniques per map run, which has literally NEVER happened to me previously.
Your rng is catching up? ( = not saying RNG = RNG :p)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Gambler's Fallacy.

Keep playing the build out and see if it stays that way over a long period of time. I doubt your damage is related to your drops, as noone else has experienced what you have.

Wrong, his post isn't pointless, it single handedly solves the abomination that is this thread.

It doesn't.
it doesn't.

I've had 3 uniques in a map before

I've had piety drop me 2 uniques and have one drop in the champion pack just before her

I play a summoner. Lol wtf is overkill

What you posted wasn't evidence lol.

It's just observation that you inserted your completely unfounded opinion into.

Let's make it a real test then. Why don't you take a level 80 character with 8000 DPS and farm Normal Hailrake and see if uniques drop in dozens. Since if your enemy has 10 health and you do 8000 damage per hit that should be an insane amount of overkill.

Record the results and post them on the thread.

i killed piety with a trap, she dropped 2 uniques. DO traps affect drops??

10/10, would laugh again.

Sorry but this thread is really pointless.
