Nvidia gtx670 3840x2160 only working in "Windowed Fullscreen"

I recently upgraded my monitor from a 1920x1200 to 3840x2160 maximum resolution monitor.
When I run path of exile in "Windowed fullscreen" @ 3840 x 2160 - not a problem. Everything works fine. And POE looks sweet @ 3840 x 2160 btw. However, When I try to change to 3840 x 2160 in fullscreen mode. I receive an error immediately - "Failed creating the direct3d Device" -> and poe immediately crashes to desktop. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions out there? I'm running a Nvidia GTX 670 on an older I5 750 system. Monitor is a Samsung LU28D590DS. It's been a rock solid system - I reboot whenever microsoft patches require - other than that it is turned on 24/7 and is never been unstable. edit it in the production_Config.ini manually before starting PoE, then try launching PoE again.
The error you're getting happens with some people while changing options inside the game.. but it might work fine if you manually edit it and launch PoE. | |

I tried that already - changed switched these around:
borderless_windowed_fullscreen=true fullscreen=false To borderless_windowed_fullscreen=false fullscreen=true Gave error on boot instead. :( | |

If you start POE and it gives the 1st error message the screen turns black. and you can't see it but if you ALT-TAB there is another window open on the desktop with error message "DXUTCreateDevice failed".

it might be possible that something isn't supporting that resolution when set to fullscreen (as it is different display mode).
looks like you might need to either reduce the resolution in fullscreen, or continue to use windowed/fullscreen. | |

Well my windows desktop is 3840x2160 - so it *has* to be supported in some way shape or form - plus every other game I've tried this evening is running fine @ 3840x2160. Either way you're correct though - I can still play.
