Or perhaps don't chase a mob down in after the 10 second announcement? As a fellow racer, I trust you already know that things finish their last move after the clock stops.
It only makes sense to me to assess my rank at the 30 second warning, to determine whether I have anything to gain by trying to kill anything else, and at 10 seconds, just disengage from anything so I can log out alive. "We were going to monitor the situation but it was in the wrong aspect ratio."
