Life steal and life on hit don't work properly

My main attack is Sweep, with an increase aoe support and a Life on hit support (16 per hit).

I have a Kaom's Sign and Blood Rage for 9% life steal.

I use 2 handed maces and am trying to build a melee witch that runs Chaos Inoculation (haven't taken it yet). But I DO have Ghost Reaver (Converts life steal healing to shield healing).





When I have both life and shield missing, and attack a group of enemies, both my life and ES heal from the life steal.

When my health is full, the energy shield still heals for the same amount. I'm not sure if it is splitting the heal gained in half , or if I'm just unplay-ably squishy.

But I know that I should not be life stealing HP back, as I have the Ghost Reaver talent.


Removing all Life steal and leaving just life on hit items/buffs results in the same thing. Both life and Shield increases on attack. Same with removing all Life on hit and leaving only Life Steal items/buffs.

I have 441 Life and 849 Energy Shield at level 40.

The Ghost Reaver node specifically mentions Life Leech. It is possible that the Life Gain on Hit is being treated separate from the Life Leech. Try removing the Life on Hit gem and see if the behavior changes accordingly.

Doesn't change the effect. Using just life steal, or just life on hit results in the same.

I believe now, that the fact they both increase at the same % rate equally, is because of the 4% per second HP loss from Blood rage. Just a coincidence.

Still, I should not be gaining any life. Still not sure if its splitting it or mirroring it.

Life on Hit makes you gain life (and only life) instantly for the shown amount when you hit an enemy. Ghost reaver has no effect on it since it specifically states it applies to life leech. Life on Hit and Life Leech are separate features.
