Ancestral bond + cast when damage taken?

Ancestral bond = extra totem, but can't do damage yourself.

So, does cast when damage taken - ice spear - molten shell = no damage?
or since its damage by a trigger gem, ice spear will do damage?

Also does totems benefit from iron grip? passive or gem

Ancestral bond prevents you from doing any kind of damage directly, indirectly by totems, traps or mines is fine, your allies can also do damage (summons and converted monsters). However, trigger gems are still 'you doing damage directly' so they do no damage.
