Minion Ranger builds?

I've been fumbling with a ranger and that of minions, I can't claim anything spectacular about it, but as a bow user, I find the safety of distance awesome so far. However truly I don't know much in the way of builds or forms, spending most of my time looking at other builds I've basically took a broad stroke at CoC, Evasion/Dodge defense, and minions. I do not know when too much crit chance is too much, and I don't know if it's even wise to push for say barrage or split CoC with an elemental skill set or desecrate and if tying it to a summon like zombies is possible.

Merely a fantasy in thought, this is what I made in a broad stroke, I have no idea how 'nuts' or how much of an abomination it is, but I would like to know if I had even close to something or if someone has a different build with minions to mess with in regards to ranger. Also I know it's unwise to fully map out as it tends to be impossible to reach, I only intended to really reach dodge / minions before anything else, but was more or less curious what would people reach for after that is done, or if something else should be done.


I have no doubt witch or shadow would probably be better, but I love the Dark Ranger concept too much. Thanks for any help, and sorry for the long type.

A few things to think about:

Minions are made and buffed with intelligence (blue skill gems). As Rangers are Dexterity based, you will have a hard time amassing enough intelligence to reach high skill levels.

I have 144 Intelligence at Level 57 with my Ranger and I have taken 3 intelligence nodes and probably will not take any more.

A big problem Rangers have is accumulating enough health. So you will be stuck trying to grab health nodes and find intelligence at the same time.

Because of the Ranger's limitations, the best way to make minions work for a Ranger is use them as your agro targets.

I use Raise Spectre throughout the game and I grab the biggest tankiest critter I can find to raise up as my personal Valkarie.

I also use raise skeletons. Skeletons I use as fodder in tough situations.

I also run the Vitality Aura (keeps my Ranger and minions alive) and either the Grace aura for defense or a damage aura.
