Bandits on hardcore
I was reading this thread and was agreeing with most of the people that this is kind of unfair, but still intended to work like that.
Being attacked by the bandits + players is a definitely unfair, especially in hardcore where you'll end up losing your character. My suggestion is to add some kind of warning message that clearly states that the party members have disagreed on killing/helping the bandits (maybe add some kind of timer so it doesn't happen too fast and cant be abused by griefers). After this, a duel is started between the disagreeing party members, but without any intervention of the bandits. After the duel, the game takes back it course and the winning players can claim the reward or start killing the bandit horde. This way, we can keep this functionality in the game and at the same time, prevent griefers from exploiting this. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

That would ruin this amazing mechanic. If you're not just mindlessly clicking through menus, the quest very clearly states you will have to fight party members who disagree. It will also post a list of all members and their current decisions.
What you get are standoffs with no one wanting to be the guy who picks first. Game theory, tense situations, sweaty palms. -Will this guy I have been playing with back stab me? -I trust this guy and will pick first as a kind gesture and team building moment. -How much do I trust him? Should I go solo for this one? -This guy has been punking my orbs all game, maybe I want some revenge. -If I choose help I will have the NPC army on my side and maybe I can kill him with that support... Imagine the high you would get if some one tried to back stab you and you kill their character. Back to soft core jerk! People keep assuming this is a pure PvE game. The good diablo games had PKers. It adds depth and fear and like life, random chaos/chance. If you're a big coward or pure PVE build you can make a private game with friends and all of this is a non issue. If you dumb it down to kiddy mode where no one really dies and we all get along you lose this amazing hardcore mechanic. Maybe this just isn't the game for you. The mechanic is hardly amazing it's a cheap trick for griefers to pk others particularly in hardcore. If this is the intention of the developers they risk alienating a large chunk of their potential market which would be financially stupid.
Since the developers want the maximum nuber of people to have a good time playing their game I expect that this mechanic will be altered prior to full release so that if people actually want to duke it out they can whereas if you want to ambush PK others you will have to find another way. This is one of the reasons why the game is still Beta. A very polished Beta but still Beta. |
