Q: Which skill for culling?

Ok, so I've started culling with IIQ/IIR on my summoner to try and up the drops I get, and I was wondering what setups people use for it? Im using my glove slot for it (so 4 link), and atm I am using Power Syphon/GMP/IIR/IIQ. Not a bad setup although I miss a fair amount and I sometimes cant cull a rare if there are other mobs running about.

Other setups I have thought about would be:

Ice nova/Culling > Slows enemies and has pretty good aoe, although I need to get in the middle of the pack I want to cull.

Shockwave Totem/Culling > Lets me plop it down and do other things while it culls (does this work? Ie does the totem still apply the IIR/IIQ properly)

Arc/Culling > Auto-targets, so easy to use, and chains to multiple mobs. Although it does have chance to shock, would that actually be any use? I have virtually no spell damage / lightning damage modifiers so the shock duration would be pitiful (if it even reaches threshhold) - is shocking viable without bonus damage?

Animate Weapon/Culling > Some extra damage/meatshields. Benefits from all my minion passives, so could actually be useful. However impossible to actively target them to cull a specific mob, and would be reliant on weapons to drop before I can start culling things. Bosses with aoe could potentilally wipe out all my weapons and prevent me culling at all.


Any thoughts about what works best? I'd love to hear what other people use/have tried.

barrage + chain + iiq + iir = win

You just suggested a combo that does not include culling strike... *facepalm*

I'm using Freezing Pulse (q20) + culling strike + iiq + iir at the moment. Freezing pulse may not hit the whole screen, but it casts almost 2x/second and at 60% quality it reaches as far as necessary, so I'm not likely to miss a cull vs an important target.

what about power siphon+gmp+chain since it already has culling on it?
