Farming for Vaal fragments

Opened the topic before SotV has been released.

Now one week later it seems like all my fears come true. The corrupted areas may be interesting as well as the apex of sacrifice, but running around in low level areas to farm for those vaal fragments as a gear character with lvl 85+ is no fun.

Would it really break the game if the corrupted areas or at least the fragments would spawn/drop in maps?

The strongboxes are fun but that's basically the only new content for players who likes challenging maps and endgame.

how to farm? do mf run, sell rares, stock up alt, convert it for more demanded currency. look for public party with "wts vaal fragments for xx". trade.

corrupted areas only i think , perhaps as a way to encourage making alt characters,
corrupted areas are essentially maps for low levels. maps have exclusive unique items , I find it a decent change that non map areas get something special as well.

Based on what I read the corruption affixes have nothing to do with specific corrupted areas. You will not be able to find these areas(that have bosses and a chest), in maps.

so i will farm 30-60 areas when i 80+ to find the fragmets/vaal gems? xd

kind of disappointing that map bosses seem to get no love loot-wise and piety and dominus runs are still king. with the addition of vaal fragments dropping only outside of (even corrupted) maps, it looks like maps lose almost all of their appeal :(

the map system is such an awesome creation with all the mods and different tile sets and stuff! why trying to drive people away from this by adding the new stuff only to early game sections?

don't get this wrong, i think corrupted areas during leveling are great but i'd really love to see corrupted maps changed to be similar to corrupted areas.

Lunaris/Dominus Runs will be able to get Corrupted Areas as well, most likely, and since the Side Areas are much higher Zone Level, it wouldn't even be much different than farming Maps.

Besides, Dominus Runs are decent exp till 75 or so.. :P

My guess, is that the Apex of Sacrifice, Atziri's zone, will also drop "Vaal" Items. Same as the Vaults of Atziri Unique Map.
