Turn off the General Chat in-game--seriously

Great game!! I love it and will be playing it for quite some time. HOWEVER, you really should turn off (for now) the general chat in game. All it does is highlight what a total garbage community this game has. I have NEVER seen such a disgrace of a public "chat". All you're doing is turning people away the moment they turn on that channel. Non-stop spam, insults, and crap...NONSTOP. Oh I do have it off now, and it will stay that way, but to the DEVS's...do yourself a favor and turn it off for now. At least until your community grows up a little. Seriously.

What's the point in multi player if people can;t chat?

You have it off, that's cool. Now why do you care what other people say to others?

Options Menu, disable it, done

You can choose to turn of global and trade chat in your settings! :D

This game has one of the nicest communities i've ever seen. Until open beta that is. I dont consider general chat crowd as part of the community anyway.

You should consider it a public service. Now you get to experience all the garbage the world is so full of, without ever needing to leave the relative safety of your home.

Anyone know a way to mute someone permanently?

Yeah the chat I saw has been pretty bad. There have been quite a few trolls spurting hat speech.

You might be able to correct this if you went to something like a $1 fee to get on general chat. Something really small that would cause people to value not getting banned only to create a new account and it would keep the kiddies out.

Another problem was that there were a lot of non-english speakers on. You might want to have them on separate servers so that their messages don't crowd out the english ones and our messages don't crowd out the spanish ones.

Does the OP play on Default or something?
