Alright, I know lightning is supposed to have a huge damage range and that shocked debuff stacks, but lightning damage enemies are just ridiculous in comparison to every other element, chaos included. Anyone else feel this way? >.>
I mean, I can walk into a room with 14 fire casters, 12 frost casters, and 2 lightning users. If I dodge all the fire/frost casters but get caught by the lightning, I can die...if vice versa...I'll survive, I might be frozen and burning, but I'll survive. Heck I've fought packs of multiple yellow/blue enemies that were easier than packs of regular white lightning users. Heck lightning resistance barely even curbs their damage. 75% cap? That's nice, they crit 3 times, they're doing 120% extra damage...and god forbid one crits at this point, that'll be nearly a one shot.
For the record, I'm in act 2 of Cruel difficulty, I have 700 life as a duelist, which maybe I should be running more health, but I'm already running very, very few damage increasing passives as it is. I know I can be cracked non-crit by a lightning user for 200, with 3 shocked stacks that turns into 440 damage, on a crit that becomes 660 damage! Holy crap! Heck let's just talk 2 lightning users that just so happen to both crit back to back...200 becomes 300, shocked stack, 200 becomes 280 becomes 420, combined together that's 720 damage! I'm dead! How rare is that situation? It's so rare that it happens multiple times on every single map that has lightning users.
I mean I'm all for a challenge in a game, but this isn't a challenge it's just stupid. Lightning is hard enough to dodge on its own, what with it being the fastest projectiles and the fact that it's the only type of projectile that can bounce off walls, but combining it with highest burst potential by an absolute landslide? I mean hell, I suppose it could be argued that the other elements should do equivalent damage-ish due to the fact that I don't really have to slow down when I run into them...but it's trash! Should I have to slow down? I don't think so, especially when it's only a couple enemies, it's not like I'm talking about a room of 15+ lightning users(which is 2-3 deaths almost every time I run into it >.> ). Hell a few lightning users would still be threatening if their damage was even cut in half >.>. Bad enough that lightning resistance doesn't have passives to increase it in the tree, it's just made worse by the fact that these things can just shock stack high enough to bypass the resistance.
Maybe I'm just the unluckiest guy to play this game but argh...frustrating. Felshire ruins: run over almost without a second thought(couple packs of blues gave some close calls), Church level 1: corpse walking losing all exp I got from felshire. Boy I can't wait for the pyramid packed stupidly tight with lightning casters with death immunity totems nearby... >.>

It's funny because I'm capped. Not to mention I brought it up TWICE in the post. Way to read though.

I kinda feel the same. I am only finishing first difficulty and lightning casters are by far the strongest enemies I have faced. Specially if they are fast and use arc. They catch you, stun lock you and kill you very fast, and the most silly part is that arc cannot be dodged. It's not cool for mobs to have abilities that cannot be dodged, because some builds rely on being mobile but squishy, but if you cannot dodge, then you are JUST squishy, and well you die.
PS: Lmao at the answers above.

omg thank you for reading xP
I mean I'm fine with spells not being dodge-able(especially considering there is a skill in the passive tree specifically for spell dodge). And yea I forgot to bring the up the point that EVERY time they hit, they stun(which can be bypassed with unwavering stance, but point remains).
And just to reinforce what I've said, if resistance was the problem, care to tell me why with equal resistance, fire and frost do SO much less? Even chaos which is incredibly hard to get resistance to is easier to deal with.

They are effectively bypassing your resistance with the shock charges. Your resistance is decreasing the damage by %, and they are bumping that right back up if you are shocked. No other element does that. That's also the reason why people add lightning damage to their fire and cold spells.

Chaos is by far the worst from my experience as it is much too difficult to get resist for, and should not be subject to the difficulty penalty for resists imho.
Cold/Fire/Lightning are fairly weak as it is easy to get capped resists, and with capped resists they are not threatening, however lightning is the most threatening due to the shock debuff.

Lightning is not the most threatening, shock is. The most threatening is Fire under the shock debuff. Fire crits 2 times.
