Good leveling skills?

I refuse to use ST because of how stupidly facerollingly broken it is, from a "power" aspect, compared to pretty much every other skill in the game until you have "fleshed out" a build to min/max anything aside from ST.
Negligible stat requirements, negligible base mana cost, easy to support in a variety of beneficial ways, works with any melee weapon so that you don't really have to care about gearing (2H will "win" on big hit potential, but other weapons are not totally discounted-Dual Wield Ungil's w/ CoCS @ char lvl 31 says "HI"). ST is the "no brainer" skill for leveling, allowing you to PL to 50+ while snoozing your way to 1-button "victory". If you would define the above as "good", then ST is a "good leveling skill". However, there are lots of other skills out there that perform nearly as well in most situations, and potentially better in others. A lot of it will depend on playstyle and whether you can enjoy playing with the skill. I don't enjoy ST, so I don't use it. That said, I leveled a dualist to 48 in about 8 hours /played with Goldrim, Wanderlust, Perandus Belt, Sadima's and Ignomon, wielding Wideswing and wrecking faces with Leap Slam, Sweep+(as available)Multi+Faster Attacks+Endurance Charge on Melee Stun, and Double Strike+Multi+Melee Physical+Faster Attacks. Sweep 4L in Wideswing for the lulz. Lumberjack theme FTW! Keep in mind that I'm 42, married, with kids, those 8 hours are not "optimized" play time, it could have been done faster with the same skills/items. Hell, I could have optimized gear for damage instead of orb drops, but the Chaos/hour ratio was too good to pass up. |
