Stuck at "Checking resources..." for hours

My complete specs (I'm on a laptop, not that it should matter):

Acer Aspire V3-471G
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
8GB DDR RAM
Hitachi 720GB HDD (with 65% free space)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M GPU

I launch the client, and the thing is stuck on "Checking resources..." for two hours and it's still not done.

I tried restarting the laptop and setting the client to run as administrator and it still gets stuck for hours.

Help please.
