Frenzy / Cleave DW Duelist Build
I see here that everyone's stacking really hard on the Frenzy charges. My question is whether the amount of skill points taken to reach those charges are worth it or not? (If their offensive/defensive worth is better than taking more life nodes/damage nodes)
I'm running a similar, but more defense oriented build that I was aiming for here:

For this the I've been contemplating on what path I should take from there, like grabbing some really easy to reach damage nodes or going for frenzy charges. There's also reaching into the Marauder path and grabbing the Diamond Skin/Troll Blood pathway. So would the frenzy charges be more worthwhile or is that just a play preference thing? (I feel like I'd be too lazy to maintain the charges all the time) And, when is it does one have enough life nodes? |

I'm considering switching to Enfeeble and running Enduring Cry to get access to Endurance Charges. There's a notable spike damage concern from running IR/US in that we have no opportunity to evade-roll a critical into a normal hit, so all of them land as criticals (which armor is significantly worse at mitigating than a standard hit).
Doing that begs the question of whether Evade as a whole is worth reclaiming. The big issue there isn't the loss of armor (I think L&S nodes and Granite can cover our bigger needs well enough without IR) but the loss of US and again being vulnerable to both stun and blockstun. It might prove more useful to keep IR/US, run Enfeeble and simply eat the additional criticals with the higher mitigation. I will probably just bite the bullet and respec 18 or so nodes to do some testing with this in-game to see if stacking enough stun reduction (along with the relatively high evasion mitigating the number of stuns somewhat) mitigates the stunlock chance enough to make it manageable. In either case I think Enfeeble will prove superior to Warlord's Mark since even in the current IR/US setup the current main threat that needs cornering is reducing physical critical spike damage. |

Hey guys i started a dualist in HC and made this build from what i learned in default, i will go dual sword but at my level i guess i could use whatever i want. I'm lv 28.
I caped almost all my resist, have a decent hp/armor, but i'm not sure where to go next: iron reflex/ambidextry or the golem's blood/steel skin on the other side, i could also go for the chaos resist node and the life nodes on it's way. What do you think? I use dual cleave/dual strike as my main dps, and will add frenzy later. I will get my attack speed and dual nodes later. http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgQAAdwUUhjbG_okpSXfLOlHfls9W69lTWqTbml08YTZmSueuZ-jpBmnn7fivqfAD8S40k3V7dX43Q0= tbh right now i'm not sure if i'll go frenzy or warlock mark for the endurance charge Last edited by Halagaz#4583 on Feb 1, 2013, 6:44:55 PM

So loving this guide so far wall.. the build i mean.
But now i am unsure where to go.. should i go for frenzy or ignore it for a bit and keep picking up health/ damage nodes and wait to see if endurance or frenzy is better? Sorry i am kinda new. Thanks!! |

" Thanks. I think I'm going to wind up significantly changing my final build to drop US and IR, but I'm still testing it. They're still really good though so I don't think I will leave either version out of the guide when I'm done with it. For your path, I would generally focus on the life nodes, then some defensive nodes that are connected to damage (like Dervish block line, Bravado block line), maybe grab Berserking when you get down to Unwavering Stance. For the most part you will be better off getting life and defense than offense while leveling and only picking up the really efficient damage nodes since you start off in a damage line whichever path you take out of the Duelist start. You don't really need to worry about Frenzy charges for some time; I don't even start using Frenzy until after I have BM and I didn't get the first Frenzy charge until a ways after that still (so probably somewhere in the 50s, I don't recall exactly). |

Well, I started following this build, but when i got to merciless I noticed I needed to be more tanky in order to survive being a melee.
I thought about having this build as an end game goal

" Well if it would not be too much effort.. any chance i could link you to where i am at so far and perhaps you could give me some general tips? I have read this thread but some of it confuses me. I certainly don't want you to hold my hand or whatever just.. anything you would of done if you were leveling again would be appreciated =)!!

I am 33 now with 2 or 3 extra points to spend. I am running so far.. Dual Strike with Life steal.. cleave... hatred.. warlords mark or whatever and frenzy (Which i rarely use at all). I would link my gear but i have no idea how.. generally my damage seems ok but i run into mana issues a bit on longer fights and i am starting to feel some pressure damage wise heading to the end of Act 3 - Normal. The damage is not outrageously bad.. nothing a quick port to base mid fight can't fix but still. Thanks again for taking the time to help out fellow players! |

feels like this build would be more viable if you took a mana leech gem and linked it with cleave/frenzy while forgoing blood magic all together so you can actually use haste/hatred auras. And being a duelist, you will be going for hybrid armor/evade armors so you'd benefit more getting those armor/evade nodes more than pure armor nodes considering you do have iron reflexes.

" I feel like if you're going up to the Marauder start, you need to get Elemental Adaptation, and probably should get Resolute Technique while you're there. I'd also say you probably overinvested into defense at the cost of too many life nodes; I'd come out of the lightning resist nodes as well as the Marauder start armor, and probably the 6% block & 6% damage chain in the lower right to get yourself more life and the aforementioned Marauder area stuff. Doing that puts you closer to a slightly better life island up north of there, which you'll want to get to. I guess it'd look more like this were I going that direction: Link Once you start gearing better I think you'll still be over-invested into resists so you will probably be able to reclaim the southern Diamond Skin for something else later on. Celerity is also obviously not really necessary so you could do this by level 80 assuming your gear lets you cap elemental without Diamond Skin and pulling Celerity (or 81 with it). Consider doing more shuffling to get more Endurance charges because they are extremely powerful when going full armor rating like this (even more overpowered than they are typically) and having 6 rather than 4 (assuming 3 x Oak rewards) would be a really big difference. " I think looking at your path I'd go over straight and pick up Iron Reflexes, then immediately take Unwavering Stance, and then either go up and get the 12%+12% Life -> Blood Drinker -> Blood Magic or get Blood Magic first if you think your life is acceptable enough to handle it before getting the 24% life and 2% life leech.
