I'm sure we can all agree that trade chat just sucks. It's a warzone in there, people spamming their items and offers, WTS/WTB left and right with items that choke up a large chunk of the chat window. Some people can spend ages spamming their ad and no one will respond to it. Can they try the forums? Sure, but people won't do it. A similar problem occurs on the forum, where some people frantically bump their ads to the top of the board. Overall, people want to play while making a profit, and stopping to spam their items on chat/forum would be a waste of time.

I never use the trade chat for that reason. I want to buy/sell something, but I don't wanna spam myself to oblivion to get it done nor take time out to constantly bump threads. And for the record in case any readers are wondering, I don't use the group boards to make ads.

That's why people choose to make their purchase/sale ads on the group board. They don't have to visit a forum, there's a filter to find stuff you want, etc. It's a lot cleaner and more organized than the hastily created trade chat. Why spam the hell out of your ad when you can just place it right there on the board and then forget about it until someone joins and responds to it?

To cut the long story short: You're punishing the traders for something they have no control over. Well yes, they can choose not to use the board, in which case I'd refer you read further up on my post to explain why they don't. Instead of ruining a trader's map (and possibly their day), why not do something to grab the developers' attentions without risking possible consequences that MAY incur in the future?

Here's an idea you can do instead:
Anyone remember the whole dilemma about ninja looting in the past? General Discussion/Feedback/General Gameplay boards were absolutely flooded with constant threads concerning ninja looting. Eventually, after some time was spent with these threads being spammed, the developers had to finally take action in order to bring peace back into the forums.

Why not keep the developers hot on the topic of a more clean and organized method for people to advertise their sales? Complain constantly on the forum about the group board being infested with shop ads? Why not do this instead? Ad posters in the group boards WILL find a way to get around map invaders anyway, and what you're doing is only going to yield short-term results for a long-term problem.

TL;DR: Stop punishing the players for a poorly designed concept by the developers, instead let them know in the forums that trading needs a serious overhaul.
