Don't worry, the new tree still is able to run all auras.

Tooltip damage is around the same, but which version has the actual superior DPS is very chance dependent. Counting in the Strength damage bonus through Iron Will, the crit tree (with 7 charges up) has 177,8% damage increase, 36,6% chance to crit and 300% crit multiplier. The shock tree has 200,8% damage increase, 15% cast speed increase and 25% chance to shock. This is without all bonus from gems and gear.

So the flat damage of the shock tree would be higher, but with 3x shock stacks the damage would only be increased by 90%, while crits will be increased by 300% and will shock.

But in order to reach a high enough crit chance, you'll have to level beyond 95 which is not realistic for everyone, while the shock build is pretty much done after 85, everything beyond is just additional killing speed.

To get the most out of crit you'll have to sacrifice one slot in your 6l Storm Call chain, this would most likely be Elemental Proliferation. Now as to my knowledge, crit chance (and therefor also shock chance of the crit build) is rolled seperately for every monster hit AND for every Storm Call marker set. So even if some hits crit, you'll effectively have less AoE damage. The shock tree won't run into this problem, you can easily build up 3x shock stacks with one Storm Call combo setting off, and they will be spread to every monster in your AoE radius.

Last but not least my ingame experiences made me choose the shock build as the better one. Even with a lesser chance to shock than crit it just feels that shocks happen way more often.
And items like this beaufitul ring just make it even better..

Improved the Passive Tree and leveling progression. Unless there will be major changes to the Passive Tree on GGG side, this will be the final version.

currently following this awesome guide, but I rolled a templar instead. At lvl66 now and saw the new passive tree. I guess I'll be rolling a new witch anytime soon now :X

And playing without Aegis seems a bit hard.. the gears I managed to obtained so far are only Stone of lazwhar and anvil.

Anyway, thanks for this awesome guide. It's costly for a beginner like me, but still loving it

Thanks, glad you like it. Aegis and Rainbowstride can be really expensive for a first char, but you'll eventually get there. Goodluck! :)

Testing Arctic Armour currently for this build. So far it works well, but you gotta need all mana related nodes and maybe 1-2 +30 dex nodes to get it to Lv20.
Will test around a bit more and share my experiences.

Also testing a more quantity-based MF setup.

Yep, you got that right. This is a pure spellcaster, so the WED roll does absolutely nothing. Just focus on a good Ar/ES roll.

How much life should i have on Act3 Cruel level 43? At the moment i only have about 537 because i have been playing with a friend since level 1 but i tried some solo play and i can't sustain at all due to my low life. Not to mention i dont have any ES yet as well.
