>>---> Explosive Arrow / Ele Equilibrium Guide (1.0.1-2) w/ Vids
Hello Exiles!
I have been working on this build since anarchy league started and I have to say that it is a fast paced, high damage, extremely fun build to run. The build doesn't require any expensive uniques or insanely good gear to be successful either! And from what i can tell with 1.0.2 being released (the change to fire damage/DoT's) it will only get more powerful possibly even OP in my opinion. Vids This is just to demonstrate the playstyle of the build http://tinyurl.com/n5lffbq Complete Guide Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVku0tvFPME 5 min Rare Cemetary Clear (post mapsize patch): http://tinyurl.com/pghx4xm First lets go through the pro's and con's then we'll get down to the nitty gritty of playstyle, gear and our tree. Pros & Cons
Spoiler
Pros
Spoiler
- High Damage Output without investing heavily into damage nodes - This is due to the fact that Mobs fire resist is debuffed by nearly 150% using flammability, EE, and fire pen.
- No expensive uniques or crazy gear requirements! - The build is going to gear around Armor and Life, this makes things easy because of all the strength a templar has and the only other gear requirment is a Quill Rain which goes for about 1-2 chaos right now. - Can run any map mods - We are running blood magic with this build so the only difficult map mods are: no life/half life regen and ele reflect which can be remedied with gem swapping and careful playstyle (we'll go more into this later!). - Built in Culling for slotting IIR! - Because we need something to proc our elemental equilibrium we will be using split arrow with chain/culling/IIR. We'll go more into this in the playstyle section. Cons
Spoiler
- Ele Equilibrim Ticks people off! - If you are grouped with anyone else that does anything other than pure physical damage then they have a chance at getting their damage nerfed due to you proc'n EE all the time. If you run with a static party just spec outta EE, after all its only 1 regret :P. - You have to play smart and push more than 1 button - Being that this is an EE build you need to be triggering it at different times each pack which requires you to switch between your EA and Split arrow to maximize damage. not really a Con tho if your an experienced gamer. - You will out level your friends.... - Because of the crazy kill/clear speed that this build provides you will be leaving your less worthy friends in the dust.. - Elemental Reflect will 1-shot you if you don't play smart - If your the type to just spam your abilities off screen without choosing your target then this build is not for you. I'll go more into how EA works in the playstyle section to reiterate on this topic. Level Progression (with trees) Bandits Help Oak, Point, Point Level 1-20 Just use spectral throw or ice nova until you get your quill rain and hit lvl 19 to equip EA. There is no point to use EA until you have your quill rain though because your attack speed will be to slow to justify.
Spoiler
Level 21-50 We should be rocking EA with our quill rain right now and you will notice that your mana cost is crazy, from 20-50 we will do a B-line to blood magic picking up resolute technique then heading north after that to pick up more life and our burning nodes.
Spoiler
Level 51-80 Here we are just rounding out the build by getting the aoe cluster by witch then heading down to scion for more life and berserking. You can pick up Elemental Equilibrium on your way to the scion circle of life nodes. I got berserking and the scion projectile damage nodes last.
Spoiler
Gem Setup, Gear, and Playstyle Aside from using explosive arrow for both aoe and your single target damage.. You will need a split arrow setup to trigger your EE. * How Explosive Arrow Works & Playstyle *
Spoiler
Basically we wont run multiple projectiles whatsoever because it will just decrease our damage and there is no need for it with the way EA works. The idea is to stack as many arrows on a single target as quickly as possible, curse with flammability then spam our split arrow before the explosion triggers. Then keep spamming your split arrow to retrigger EE for burning and get off your culling. Each arrow on the mob increases the blast radius and this caps out at 5 arrows.
With a quality explosive arrow you gain 1% chance to ignite per quality point capping at 20% at quality 20 gem. This is important because you will find that ignite will be a large part of your damage. The burning damage will proliferate to all surrounding enemies and melt everything in sight! You DO NOT i repeat DO NOT want any flat fire damage on any of your gear if you are running elemental equilibrium because this will defeat the purpose of using split arrow as your trigger. You want at least 1 piece of gear with either lightning or cold on it though (a must). On Rares/Bosses: - Stack 5 arrows on boss, keep cursed, spam split arrow, repeat while kiting On White Packs: - stack 1-3 arrows on single mob in pack, curse, watch them disintegrate.... On Magic Packs: - Stack 3-5 arrows on single mob in pack, curse, spam split arrow for epic loots * Main Curse will be Flammability. Ele Weakness if playing in group. * I also run vitality with a reduced mana gem but this isn't needed. Helps tuns on chaos dmg maps though. Explosive Arror Gem Setup (ST and AOE): 4L - EA, Chance to Ignite, Ele Prolif, Increased Burning Damage 5L - EA, Chance to Ignite, Ele Prolif, Increased Burning Damage, Fire Pen 6L - All of the above and you can add in either increased AOE, Conc Effect or Faster Attacks Split Arrow Gem Setup (used to trigger EE and Cull for rarity bonus): 4L - SA, Chain(level 1), curse on hit, flammability ** Before you get a second 5L you can use your split arrow to curse the mobs so you dont have to manually cast flammability.. very handy! 5L - SA, Chain(level 1), culling strike, blind, item rarity ** Once you have your 5L for your split arrow setup things get amazing. You can add culling strike and rarity to help with getting those leet uniques and toss in blind to make your survivability go up 10fold. My Current Gear at 83 - I've been doing alot of farming over the last few weeks and started upgrading some of my stuff
Spoiler
That's all i can think of off the top of my head. If anyone has any suggestions or questions feel free to hit me up. I am by no means a pro at theorycraft or anything like that, i just happened to find a build that works and thought i would share my version of an EA build with everyone. Cheers!! Did you try ranged totem with sa+chain+cull? I realize you need to waste a 5-L to get the iir in there, but it could work out nice.
Or tried a frost nova spell totem with cull+iiq? Works great if you have increased AoE |

Yea I've actually tried a ranged totem with the SA/culling but ranged mobs tear through it too quick because we dont take any totem nodes. Also i just found it to take more time to cast the totem than to manually use SA.

Made a few changes after some feedback, nothing major.

Do you think 5link SA works with LGoH,chain, blind, faster attacks if you dont need item rarity and want to stay alive with leech? Does life leech gem work with EA?

I'm currently playing EA + Ele Eq on Nemesis, and what I've found that works really well is to use SA + LoH + Chain + Blind then have a secondary bow/quiver w/ SA + Cull + Chain + IIR to quickly swap to and fire a shot when things are low for the magic find culling. Having LoH on the primary SA adds a significant amount of survivability imho.
Also, you may have already done this, but you can take the int node to the left of Holy Strength circle, and then respec out of 3 of the 4 int nodes that are connecting Holy Str to Celestial Walker, and free up a few points :) Last edited by delvur#0439 on Nov 28, 2013, 5:10:43 PM

I said to the creator of the build I'll post and here I am :)
So far, I'm 60 following this build and LOVING it since the beginning. I'll just leave my thoughs got by experiencing it. First of all, one thing that is not on the guide is that you have to get Dexterity on gear. This has an easy solution, just take a Light Quiver, and problem solved. EA lvl 20 needs 151 Dex, so be aware of getting that number. In addition, I suggest to do the math on cap the magic resists for merc. I didn't look for it, but I think is 135% each one. Buy the gear required to that, because yesterday I found out this is keystone with this templar build. And finally I want to discuss about the tree. When you take all the HP nodes near scion, it seems to me there are two ways to follow. The first one is the one in the build, and the second one is the circle near Blood Magic which gives you fire damage and burning duration. So the question is...what is it worthier? The AS and Projectile Damage from scion start nodes or fire dmg? I'll be giving feedback constantly, because I would love this build ends up being an awesome bow build. As I said to him, a million thanks for it, and see you around! |

" Life leech wont help because its going off damage of SA witch is nothing pretty much but LGoH would work great if your having survivability issues :) IGN: MojozBallsAreHuge Last edited by Sorrows81#7967 on Nov 28, 2013, 9:26:36 PM
