item rarity confusion caused by GGG - please help
I remember reading in a GGG post (I believe it was chris, but not positive)
That item rarity only increased the chance for an item to become blue (magic) and all blue items had a chance to become rare, and then a rare item had a chance to become unique, and this chance was independent of the players item rarity, so item rarity only increased the chance for blue items to drop, of course more blue items would mean more potential rares and uniques as well... however... my question is... If every item a boss drops is blue or higher, does that mean the players item rarity is essentially irrelevent? Why stack rarity for bosses like piety, dominus, etc. if every item they are dropping is blue or higher anyways? can someone clear this up. Thanks |

if you have no rarity bosses will drop mostly blue.
" that is not entirely true, having 800 rarity leads to getting only rare items even from white mobs, so im 100% sure that rarity does increase chance for items to become rare and unique. EDIT: If you wanna test out how very high rarity works, try , it can have up to 400 increased rarity , therefore its perfect testing grounds for how rarity works Last edited by Aetherium#6579 on Nov 22, 2013, 10:18:54 PM

" I'm thinking this is it. I only have 160 item rarity but I definitely get a whole lot more rares and uniques than before I had a magic finding character. OP, could you give a link to the dev stating that item rarity only increased blue chances? Keep PoE2 Difficult.

I could be wrong but Im pretty sure 'rarity' increases the chance for all item types to increase in rarity.
Whites are more likely to be blue Blue more likely to be yellow ecetera Just for try for see and for know -2013!
She corpse exploded the corpse of the boss... |

hm, I must have misunderstood the post, or it was written poorly, I'd love to link it but it was a few weeks back and I don't know how to find it
regardless, you are all definently correct after having tested it. disregard post, thanks for the help |

the easyest to see that item rarity works is when you find boss in nemesis that has iner treasure mod, it will give you 1 unique if you have below 100% iir and for every 100% iir it will give u 1 aditional unique.. i had 200iir once and got 3 uniques just from one mob lol with nemesis mod iner treausre
