Fixing Low Life Builds
|
From the witch starting area, you can get 32% chaos resists "pretty easily" from passive, but that's an investment of at least 3-4 points.
The problem is that if you don't build up your health you will still get one-shoted by chaos alchis and vipers pack. So you need to build life+%ES (main defense)+chaos resists if you don't go CI. And in the process to get to low life with around 1K hp, you sacrifice 2000 hp for it, but you can use all the on low-life stuff (+30% damage, redbeack, +100%% iiq boots ...) If you go CI: build only +%ES, and sacrifice only around 600 hp (if you get some from gear), and you can use blood rage for free. I don't think as it is today low-life builds are appealing. |

" First thing I thought was: Isn't that just a watered-down Chaos Inoculation? Which made me realize that CI is really backwards right now. Obviously energy shield is meant to synergize with mechanics that care about your life amount, but for some reason they decided to give CI to the full-life side of the house, when it's the low-life side that needs chaos immunity the most. I think a better idea would be: * Change CI so that it reserves all but 1 life instead of setting your life to 1. Pleasant side effects: more intuitive (1 life is currently low life but not Low Life), would ease some mechanics questions (stun would still be based on your displayed, unreserved max life). CI melee loses Melee Damage on Full Life support, gains more Blood Rage attack speed. * Move Pain Attunement somewhere else. It's probably a little too good being that close to the low-life version of CI. * (Optional) Provide more Full Life support. Maybe some keystones (like a reworked Dark Ritual), maybe some new support gems for things that aren't melee damage. Yes, we'd have CI mages running around with Redbeaks and such. But let's face it, CI was kind of overnerfed, and this would be a good way to get it back on its feet. Although we all know super-tanky CI was OP, I think super-glasscannony CI would be fun, interesting, and appropriate to the phrase "Give up everything in pursuit of greatness—including life." When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " Some nice Ideas here. I currently run a low life build in merciless with positive Chaos resistance. This is including 3 passive points spend in chaos resistance and the rest coming from gear which took me awhile to find. I also have a CI crit ice caster in merciless. My CI character has better survivability in merciless then my Low life character and has been able to grab more ES then the low life build at a lower level. The challenges of low life builds is dealing with the chaos damage so something like a Dark Ritual passive keystone would make that easier to get good gear (instead of not so good gear just to get the chaos resistance). The Challenges of CI are stuns and status aliments. Both of these build though are challenged to get enough ES. My CI character only has around 1.1k ES while my low life build which is higher leveled has only just over 900 ES and around 175 life after her reserve. The CI character survives better then the low life one currently and dies less. Both have troubles with continual damage while the CI character can laugh at chaos damage and the low life build at stuns etc. I don't believe making CI low life is the way to go though.
